  2. Same here guys. All I know is I'm tired of thinking my headset, controller, adapter, etc. is the issue. I just want this solved. I don't even feel like getting on to play when I can't even talk to anybody.

If you boot up your system with your controller and not use the main power button or voice commands to turn on your system it seems to start working. Possible bug with the timing of some controllers. I dont know.

Xbox One Stereo Headset Mic Not Working for Party Chat

I noticed if I power my system down and power the system up by turning on my controller first I dont seem to have this issue. If i use Xbox on it wont allow the headset mic to boot up. It is some kind of bug. I would imagine that when the hardware starts
to detect the different logic coded on the controllers that for some reason it times out when trying to boot up that operation. If the controller is the primary method of turning on your system then you shouldn't have any issue. Let me know if this helps!

As an addition to this I should say that sign in using the controller and start a party using the controller first as well. Then everything after that is no problem. Only on a fresh boot that is.

Hello all. If you guys are still having this problem then read this. Most likely its your xbox headset adapter. My adapter did the same thing i cant talk but i can get audio from it just fine. i found plugging in your mic in and out real fast, you can chat
with people... when you plug it in completely it stops working... so thats one way to chat if you really want to pug it in and out a million times. Here are some options for replacing the adapter.
Option one: You will need to return the adapter (in box and everything else) to the place of purchase, they should swap it out for you.
Option 2: If not option one, send it into Microsoft but it will take 4 weeks for repairs...
Option 3: buy a new one...
so if you found this helpful please give this a thumbs up and add me on xbox one:

  7. Try this it worked for me. Sounds a bit extreme but it worked for me,

    1. Sign into Xbox Live

    2. Go to Settings

    3. Network

    4. Advanced Settings

    5. Alternate MAC address

    5.Clear

After you complete this go back to settings and go to remove accounts and remove your profile from the Xbox. After doing so hold the power button until the Xbox shuts off should take about 5 seconds. Wait a few seconds, turn the Xbox on and download your
    profile and test it out.

Sounds extreme and I myself never would've thought to go through all that for this.. Xbox support talked me through it.

I updated into this bug...here is how...

I am Preview Program but both my controller and Xbox had a pending update. I ignored them and while in Preferences turned on Instant sign-in to try it out as I was sick of having to use the controller or Kinect on Power On.

Things worked fine. Then I updated the controller and Instant sign-in didn't seem to work anymore as I had to turn it off and sign out/sign in in via controller to get it to work.

The bummer was it is hard to pin down that issue so I was looking at everything BUT that...

Very few Xbox One Mic not working threads have this solution.
