Xbox One starts for a second and then shuts down.

So I have had my X1 for about 4-5 months. worked perfectly other than the kinect messing up sometimes.

wanted to play a game yesterday. turn on my controller nothing. so I press the power button on the console but the light turns on for a half second and then turns off again.

I tried several things people said. I disconnected everything. put everything back together. nothing

held the powerbutton for 10 seconds. nothing

somebody told me to disconnect everything and hold the powerbutton for 30 seconds(apparently hard reset yeah I don't even know) nothing.

I checked the power supply and it seems to be working perfectly fine. orange when console is turned off. white when I press the powerbutton. turns orange when the X1 turns back off with no blinking orange light so it seems to be fine.

Any ideas? is it dead and need to be send in for repairs? I guess if that happens I lose my harddrive?

Hey everyone i was seshing Zoms and the console just shut itself down and won't start up again.. it wants to start but stays on for maybe a second then shuts down again.. any answers ?

Have you attempted a full power cycle with your Xbox One by chance? Hold down the power button for 8-10 seconds until it shuts down completely, then start it back up.

 

I would leave the power brick unplugged for a few minutes and try plugging it back in.

 

I've just encountered the exact same problem. Have you got yours working again yet? Interestingly, I'd just changed my power settings to energy saving to try it out - turned the console off and now it won't boot back up. I've played around with all the cables,
sometimes I don't even get the power button lighting up but it still makes the sound. I've only had the console for a few weeks!

 

Nope. still doesn't work. maybe il pull out the plug tonight and plug it back in in the morning. I highly doubt it will work but hey rather that than having to ship it back in.

 

Unfortunatly, what is going on is that your console is not working or holding power anymore. At this point you have 2 options

1) Call 1-800-4My-Xbox and set up a repair with an agent.

2) Go to myservice.xbox.com and set up a repair with the site.

I personally would suggest going with option number 2 as to the fact you don't have to wiat to talk to an agent, and it gets the job done. If you need additional help setting up a repair, please do respond to this thread so that I may continue to assist

so update. tried filling in a service request.

suddenly BAM have to pay a hundred euros. with the options in a different language for some reason

something about "out of region no warranty".

This is total ***. I specifically asked the lady at the MICROSOFT store if I would have worldwide warranty and she said I would. she made me get the extended warranty "just to be sure". And now I have to pay money because of her screwup?

This microsoft employee pretty much literally doesn't know what she was talking about(or she lied to get a sale) and now I have to pay the price. I am furious as anything. if she had told me "I am not sure" then I probably wouldn't of bought a X1 while visiting
my fiancé. but she said "yes you will have warranty. the warranty from the microsoft stores is worldwide"

so now what? bug microsoft even more? wait till fricking christmas to go to the microsoft store? I am not paying a single cent. It's not my fault. I asked a certified microsoft employee the question and she said yes. Not my fault this is on microsoft.

honestly. right now? I just want to throw the plastic brick in the trash, sell the games and just forget about microsoft consoles.

I've had this happen to my xbox many times. What i've done and it seems to work is unplug everything from the power brick and the power from the xbox one. Leave it unplugged for a couple of hours then plug the cord to the power brick and then the cord to
the xbox last. The light will change from orange to white. As long as its white it'll work. Seemed to work for me Hope it works for you.

 

Mmmm checked my Microsoft account. the only thing I was able to change was my preferred contact preferences which has now been changed my my gmail

 

update: I got a call from somebody from microsoft out of nowhere. he wanted to ask me where I shipped my xbox one but since I didn't ship it yet he asked me my adress and details and said he would pass it through to somebody else who will call me later.

I am honestly surprised. I didn't expect them to actually contact me. I hope that the next person will give me good news and that I can get the X1 fixed.

I have the same problem on my xbox, i just press power about 5 times for it to boot. I think my xbox is out of warranty as i got it on release day. If i have it on instant power all is fine however if i have it on power saving I get this problem every time
i leave it off for more then a few hours.

I think i will turn it back on to instant power.

 

Hey, DarthWilder! Sorry to see your console is having issues, too! If you bought it Day One, then you should have no problem setting up your console for a warranty repair. The shortest repair we have out there is 1 year, and it is still within that time
