Xbox one standing upright?

I've just got a "original" xbox one, I have read that you cant stand it up right but due to space in my unit in my living room it will be a real struggle to have it laying down.

I did read that its got something to do with the loading drive (CD loading slot?) or something and you do it at your own risk.

I don't intend to buy any hard copies of games but just get them on download so this "loading drive" issue shouldnt (hopefully) be a issue, right?

Any one got a "original" xbox and got it standing up, and if so, you had any issues with it?

Clearly didn't think about space before I got it.

No Disk

Is it standing on one end (like a 360 supports) or is it sitting horizontal? Make sure it's horizontal because Xbox One doesn't support standing on one end. The symptom is that the DVD won't read. This isn't well documented unfortunately.

 

Last Man Standing?

All these game types where you just die and mash X to quickly get back into game doesn't force you to be very careful, you can just run out and suicide run to take out a vehicle or something, then just mash X to get right back in the fight.

 

They make a special stand for it to stand upright but that only fits the Xbox One S.

I'm sure you'll be fine if you place it upright propped up against a bookend or similar. You won't be using discs and I'll assume you don't have any pets or kids that would knock it over. If you do, then use at own risk is definitely warranted.

It's not supposed to be upright. I wouldn't do it.

It's an expensive piece of kit. Make the space you need for it to use it properly.

Their are vents at the top of the box for the fan also. Really don't want to be blocking that off.

 

Yeah,it's not designed to be stood upright.

You would be blocking vents & your console would suffer & probably overheat.

 

Not to mention that your warranty would be void if then could actually determine it had been positioned like that.

 

As others have said, I personally wouldn't as it wasn't designed to stand that way.

I don't even stand my Xbox Slim up, simple reason, my grandson, if he had the chance it would go flying lol
