Xbox One (standard) headset mic not working

I've had the wonderful pleasure of having the gift of an Xbox One since September. Then, a few days ago, the mic wasn't working. I've tried everything I can think of, including several hard resets, mute button is off, etc. Even unplugged the power to
the XB1. I checked using one suggestion online by starting the party chat, made sure it wasn't muted and it was specifically set for party chat, and there was no icon indication that sound was being recognized by the mic. The mute button lights up when I
press it, the volume up max sound works, I hear just fine, etc. It is simply the mic doesn't work. It is very frustrating to have a product for three months and then it doesn't work. It especially takes a fair amount of the fun away from playing a game
like Destiny (which is all I've been playing) and participating in a Nightfall Strike or Raid and all you can do is listen or send messages via the phone app. Fortunately, people I play with are easy going and it's worked for a few days, but this can't continue.
I've seen this problem has been mentioned by many people in the forums. I hope to get the problem resolved quickly. I would also hope that it is something that can be exchanged in the MS store and not mailed somewhere and have to wait for a replacement
several weeks later. That would not be good customer support/service. Eagerly awaiting your help while playing a team oriented game by myself...

Mic on multiple devices not working.

I have two headsets, one being the standard headset from Xbox one, and another using an adapter. In both cases, I can hear other people or the game fine from the headsets, but the mic is not working. On both of my controllers, the mic does not work, and
it is not a muting problem. Also, I just got the adapter today, and it does the same thing, no mic, but I can hear sound.

 

Broken mics

Is it the standard Xbox one mic or the xbox one stereo headset?

 

Standard headset sucks, look into aftermarket options, plenty of them available, I wont suggest any in particular because whichever you get, will be much better than the free standard one provided.

 

Its not your mic trust me i threw away my almost brand new one thinking it was broke it is a glitch that they need to adress please fix our mic issues
