  1. Xbox One Spring Update 2018 FAQ

    Hey everyone!

Spring has sprung and the Xbox One Spring Update is upon us! This frequently asked questions section is
designed to be a guide for any questions or concerns about said update.

Exploring key changes on the Xbox One Dashboard:

There is a bevy of changes coming to Xbox One consoles in the Spring Dashboard Update, and we will outline each of the key changes you will see coming up on the Xbox One Dashboard. Mixer brings the inclusion
of sharing control of the game with viewers, uploading content captured on Xbox One directly to Twitter, changes to Club invitation filtering, tournament creation opening up to everyone, along with changes to activity feeds.

Q: How does controller sharing work?

A: It’s easy! Mixer streamers can hand control of their game being streamed over to a user for as long as they wish. The recipient must be on Mixer.com and using an Xbox One controller or onscreen virtual controller to receive access.

Q: If I’m hosting a controller share with a viewer, how easy is it for them to grief me?

A: Not to worry. You have as much control as you desire with the controller sharing option. You can revoke access at any time and can access punishment tools while sharing as well. Or, tap your Xbox Guide button to immediately suspend access. The other
user does not have access to the Xbox Guide button on their end and would not be able to resume access.

Q: As a Club owner, does the Spring Dashboard update allow me greater control over who joins?

A: If your club is looking for a certain type of player, you now have the freedom to filter invitations by Gamerscore, Gold Status, time played, reputation, and if they were recommended. Assemble the best of the best or a squad of weekend warriors.

Q: What’s changing with sharing to Twitter exactly?

A: We’re glad you asked! You now have the power to share game clips directly to Twitter on your account. No more links that must be clicked!

Q: Will I still need to be in a Club to start a Tournament?

A: With the Spring Dashboard update, you can create a tournament without a club. You can create a tournament from the multiplayer guide or from the games hub itself. It’s a great way to fill out as big of a tournament as you desire.

Q: How are Activity Feeds benefiting from this update?

A: Activity Feeds are safer because of this update. By selecting “More Actions” on the post, you can lock comments on that page. This is a fantastic addition for those who like to manage online activity and privacy. There’s also a great ability to filter
Activity Feed content of Club Members as well.

My Games and Apps Easter Eggs:

My Games and Apps has some great additions that make searching and finding your content even easier and faster. We’ve also added a much-wanted feature for viewing your Subscriptions here as well.

Q: Where can I find my Subscriptions now?

A: You can find your Subscriptions in “My Games and Apps” listed above your games. This will show up for anyone with Auto-Renew off and will show Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass subscriptions. Plus, you can extend your subscription right from the banner.

Q: Will the “Search” feature contain just my owned content?

A: In addition to your stuff, the search feature, which is now easily located in the guide immediately after pressing the Xbox Guide button, will also search settings and the Microsoft Store.

    Making themes easy and varied:

There are a couple changes coming to themes as well! You can schedule your theme to change from light to dark and back again. You can now change the theme when you want manually, automatically at a set time,
or when the sun is rising or setting in your area. It’s up to you.

Q: Dynamic Theming? What exactly does that mean?

A: Dynamic Theming is a new feature that will allow users to switch from Light to Dark themes based on the sun cycle in their location. Meaning, it will change automatically, dynamically. It’s a great visual change.

Q: What if my area has weird sunrise and sunset times?

A: Not to worry, you can set your own times for this setting, seamlessly switching between themes when you decide. Scheduled Theming has you covered.

Q: I have High Contrast in use, it’s a great Ease of Access tool, can I still use these new Theme settings?

A: Unfortunately, due to the drastic changes visually, High Contrast mode prevents the use of Scheduled or Dynamic theming.

If you’re curious about update details or how to find the update, you can find that on our

Xbox One operating system versions and system updates
page. Additionally, you can find known issues for this update on the
    Xbox Wire Insider page.

    Xbox One forum for assistance

Xbox won’t display in 4k on my monitor

    Hi

This monitor is not a 4K monitor it is only a 1440P monitor and this will probably be why this option is not selectable for you.

Also just to let you know the Xbox Insider community is currently testing the Xbox spring update and this will add 1440P support.
