Xbox one split screen Fortnite

I have a Xbox one I’m trying to play Fortnite on split screen option me & partner have own accounts, we get logged into Fortnite and I press Y to log into player 2 but it just shuts down and back to Xbox home page, can anyone shed any light why it’s doing that, my partner has gold account I don’t is that the problem ?

Unfortunately, split screen mode in Fortnite requires two controllers to be connected to the console. It is not possible to play split screen with a combination of a controller and a mouse & keyboard. You will need to have two controllers to play split screen mode in Fortnite.

You will.have.to.purchase a.second controller keyboard.

You will be.hardpressed to find a game that supports keyboard and mouse on 2 players

There is no split screen option for Fortnite on any console or device

Fortnite only supports split screen for two players.
