Xbox One Specifically will not play any Blu Ray Disc

Ok, so here is my problem,

My xbox one has been working like a dream, until lately.

Suddenly, it has been unable to recognize or play any Blu ray disc. It is able to play CD, DVD, and game discs, but Blu ray is just not recognized.

NOTE: This is not a Game of Thrones Season 3 problem, this is an all blu ray discs problem.

I have narrowed it down to the xbox is just not able to decipher what the disc is as it gives a generic error message saying "Sorry, we can't play this disc. try an xbox one game, a music cd, or a movie on blu-ray or DVD. (0x80820002)" And that's it.

As a person who works in tech support and does troubleshooting every day, this is frustrating. Generic (I can't do this) error messages are the bane of my existence.

Anyways, any ideas? I have already tried all the troubleshooting tips given on the website as well as some on some other forums.

No Movies (blu ray or dvd)

I just received my replacement xbox one console. Progress! The new one does PLAY commerical blu ray and dvd's!!! It does NOT play any of the blu ray movie disc (BDMV) that I created. Error 0x91d70000 (the error message on the old console was
0x91d70001).

Progress. It does play the commerical blu ray disc (Star Trek into Darkness is the only one I have).

 

Thor 2 Blu-Ray not playing

I purchased the Thor 2 blu-ray and 3d blu-ray combo pack. I have tried to play the regular blu-ray disc in my xbox one and it won't recognize the disc. I can play other blu-ray discs and games, just not thor 2. I have uninstalled the app, power cycled, and
returned the disc for a new copy. Is there a fix for this? Any help is appreciated.

 

For scope, these are the things that I have tried:

1. Turning off and back on the console

2. uninstalling the blu-ray player app and reinstalling it

3. doing a hard-restart to the console and seeing if that works.

4. Tried other blu ray discs

Basically, everthing I can think of short of reverting the console back to factory defaults.

 

Seriously, this is a huge problem.

I'm suprised I don't see more people complaining about this seeing as there aren't many games to play on the One and I use it more as a blu ray player.

 

Ok, I just got off with the Xbox Support line, and we were able to fix the problem. Ok, so here is what we did.

We went to Home -> Settings -> Disc & Blu-ray

Now, you have to know where you live. If you live in the UK or anywhere that uses a 220 HZ system, you must Check the 24 HZ, checkbox. However, if you live in the US, where we have a 120 HZ system, leave the box unchecked.

See if you have the same problem, if you do, then do these next steps.

Go to your Xbox, and press and hold the Xbox Logo button and the Bind button (the button that is on the side of the CD Tray) for 10 seconds until it shuts down. Then unplug the power cord and wait for 2 minutes(THIS IS IMPORTANT, it clears the RAM in your
xbox and clears any existing errors)

After the 2 minutes are up, plug the power cord back in and start up the xbox.

If you have a Blu-Ray disc in the tray, eject it, and put it back in.

This solution worked for me. However, I was told by the support guy that doing the resetting of the xbox too many times can damage the software, so don't do it excessively.

 

Mine is like that...... they are starting to do a process where they are replacing the xbox ones....

Hold on to the disc for a couple seconds. You will feel the drive pull harder on the disc. Release the disc and you should here the x1 recognize the disc. Not sure why this works. I cycled, reset memory, the whole run around. This is what worked for me.
Weird but easy solution
