    Xbox One - SPDIF to VGA for Audio

    Hi,

    I currently own an xbox 360, set up:

    • HDMI-HDMI for monitor
    • Xbox 360 input (chunky grey thing)-VGA for sound
    So basically I have two separate inputs to the 360, one for visual and one for sound. This is all because my monitor has no speakers or audio output.

    Now, I am getting an Xbox One this weekend and I have been looking at ways to sort this problem because the One has no chunky grey input for sound only SPDIF.

    So my thoughts are that i need a VGA to SPDIF?

    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, escpeically a link to a good 'known' product that will help me.

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. TV Incompatibility Issue - Incorrect Aspect Ratio (IMG)

    Jaymo, you'll be happy as I am (oh wait, no, no one can be as happy as I am right now) when you find out that using the VGA adapter actually worked, and is displaying in 1920 x 1080p.

    ::tl;dr solution::

    If you've experienced the same issue as the one mentioned in the OP, try converting your HDMI output into something else your TV supports. For me, converting HDMI to VGA allowed my TV to "Just Scan" for the correct video output, whereas my HDMI-in did not
    support this functionality.

    ::aside::

    After converting to VGA, I lost my audio, since VGA is a video-only format. I had to use the digital audio out port on the Xbox (SPDIF) to actually get sound.

    Thanks again Jaymo for helping me out with this one. You've made me the happiest person on the planet!
