    Xbox One Sound Lag


    I have just purchased an Xbox One S. After much deliberation I took the plunge and bought one. I'm now considering how to send it back and get a refund.

    My setup is a Q60R Samsung TV and connected via HDMI cable into HDMI 1. The sound on the Xbox is lagging behind the video and i have changed every option i can. Compressed, dolby, hdmi audio, bitstream, auto detect tv, manually detect, hdmi, changed to pcm
    on tv, changed to Dolby, tried delay on TV..

    I dont know what else to do but if i cant resolve this I am going to have to find a way to return it.

    The lag is seen when i watch Virgin Media through the hdmi going through the xbox and when i play games or even use the menu om the xbox.

    Even using one guide, if i turn to a different source and go back to my xbox to watch virgin media i get horrific static which i can only stop by turning it off and on again.

    Please, please someone help. I want to love this as much as i loved my 360 but i cant get past this audio lag

    Hi Grimsupanoob,

    Can you please clarify which cable are you talking about?

    I have this same audio delay issue with my setup:

    Xbox One X -> Original Xbox HDMI Cable (I presume this one is HDMI 2.0) -> LG OLED B9 TV -> Random HDMI Cable connected to ARC -> Denon X2200W

    I read that the cable for ARC doesn't have to be HDMI 2.0 as it just transmits audio (any HDMI 1.4 should be enough for that).

    HI There

    on the TV make sure that the HDMI is set to Enhanced mode if it is not (this is needed for HDMI 2) and make sure that you are using a HDMI 2 cable.

    there is a massive difference on speed throughput between HDMI 1.4 and 2.0, where 2.0 is required for 4K playing (18Gbps)

    Running a Sony HT-X900F soundbar with the X and TV,
    and unless all is set to the above, you will have issues

    Hello Stompin89,

    I'm understand that you dont want to have this kind of issues on just bought Xbox. But can you provide little bit more details on it, so i will try to help you.

    1. Are you trying to connect different device via HDMI cable into your TV and check is there any problems with sound? (Or connect your Xbox into different TV).

    2. If you don't have any other device or tv, try to reset your Xbox Settings into default values, and do the same with your TV. Sometimes wrong configuration can be the reason of problems.

    Also, i've find that Q60,70,80 Series have some problems with Audio delay, as posted in different resources try this:

    1. On your Samsung TV (Tested on Q80R), go to sound menu, Audio Delay - Set it to 0

    2. Grab your soundbar remote, press the settings button until find setting called Audio - set it to 0

    Appreciate it, but I don't run 4k or any extra sound equipment. And I use an HDMI 2 cable. Again, this problem randomly started just last night after putting in a DVD after years of using the same box and TV setup. It's never been an issue before.

    I've got the same problem. Xbox one x to LG OLED C9 to Samsung soundbar over ARC. I'm getting video before audio. I've tried all settings on TV and xbox. Looking into this, people on LG forums and Sonos are saying its Xbox at fault anything over Hdmi is
    behind. I don't know if its true but I don't get any audio lag over optical. Just Hdmi.
