    I have a large number of frustrations with the Microsoft Xbox One service - one of which is how difficult it is to complain!

    I will aim to be brief.

    • I own an Xbox One. I played the new Star Wars game a couple of months ago, all worked fine.
    • I switched it on yesterday and it powered up as usual. The blasted thing insisted on connecting to the internet in order to let me play my games (which by the way - what the hell?? I bought it, I own the games, let me play them offline! It's none of microsoft's
      business whether I connect to the internet or not!)
    • When I connected to the internet, the console insisted on downloading a software update. Again - what's with the dictatorial mandates? It should be my choice whether I want to update the software. Fair enough for online play, but in my own home I resent
      being ordered to spend two hours downloading something I don't even want...
    • The download froze at 84%, with no progress for an hour. Then it switched off.
    • Then I spent an hour trying to find assistance on the customer support site. Eventually I tried the factory reset (losing years of saved games and data) and even the Offline Reset using USB. More hours wasted. Still doesn't work.
    • Tried going back to Customer Support. Zero support - just sends me round in circles.
    • Tried warranty registration - says my warranty is expired. Well, fine if *I* broke it, but MICROSOFT are the ones who broke my console with their rubbish update!
    • I am now extremely displeased and irate.

      So in summary: I wanted to turn on my console and play my games. Which I have paid for and own. This useless company enforced an internet connection, then a mandatory software update, and has now broken my console. To add insult to injury, they don't even have
      a proper complaints procedure to hear my concerns.

      What do I do, team? I'm furious. Microsoft needs to replace this console and apologise.

    updates unfortunately are mandatory, you may own the hardware and disc but you dont own the software, you have a licence to use and play said software.

    if you set the console for offline in the network options it would not have asked you to connect to the net.

    if the offline tool is not working then there is an issue which will need the console sending in.

    if your console has ever connected to online then it should have synced all the game saves to live so they should be safe.

    You could try contacting Microsoft by phone and explaining the issue you are having to them that way. Not sure of their number off the top of my head but you could google it to find out depending on the area of which you live.

    Oh Lordy, how I tried! Hours of my life going around in circles on that site... the best they could do was direct me to ask a gamer. Utterly useless.

    The software designers as well as their dept heads, who do the updates all need to be fired.

    There's always room for improvement, but If it ain't broke. Don't fix it.

    Seems when it comes to these "updates." or downgrades would be a better term. These software designers may.need to go back to University and demand their money back, then use it to actually obtain a quality education, afterwards they can then re-apply for
    a job and....

    Perhaps actually do a quality one. 🤑
