Xbox One Snap: Strange symbols

Anyone else having an issue with the text characters for the words Online and Unread under Friends and Messages respectively after opening up Snap?! The two words seem to have a mix of foreign types (accents and letters) in replace of English ones! Any
fix for this?

i think you are talking about gamertags with strange symbols and stuff.

Getting those special characters involves changing the system language on the Xbox 360 dashboard to a language other than English.Everyone can do it and use these symbols as long as they dont offend others.

You can also do it on xbox.com and use all your keyboard's symbols and copy-paste any symbol you like on your profile.

Hi guys, my name is Anthony [Mod Removed] and I've noticed a strange symbol that sometimes appears on my games in the Games and Apps section of the Xbox One. It is a white triangle in the corner of the game with a blue sun-looking symbol

This is nothing to worry about! I assume you are in the update preview and are using snap centre? This is common for all preview updates and you should see less weird text in upcoming builds. Everyone has been experiencing this, It's not just you.

If you have any issues in the future regarding preview updates, please post in the preview forums.

 

I bought a preowned console recently which has this problem in Snap exactly as described above and some other places too.

As far as I'm aware, I'm not registered for update preview, and can't access the preview forums (which suggests to me I'm not registered for the programme).

How can I tell if my console is subscribed to update preview?

 

1410-140917- 2200 is the latest update check yours the previous owner might of been in the preview program, have you got the dashboard app installed if you have press registration if already registered it will say so.

 

I've had 3 system updates in the past 8 days, I'll have a look later when I'm home to chack what the last update was. The most recent one received was yesterday, about 250MB. Haven't noticed an app for this, would it most likely be found under Games and
Apps?

 

It looks like the console is registered, previous owner should of unregistered it the app is sent via a message check your games and apps, if you can access the Xbox early access and post there.

Looks like this console is registered in the preview programme?

The XB1 preview registration app was available to download but not installed, so I downloaded -> run it -> hit "Join" and that's all I could do.

There doesn't seem to be the option to opt-out should I not be accepted?

The preview registration app is no longer used its the xbox preview Dashboard app you need, can you access the preview forum or registration support.

 

Ah, no I don't have the Preview Dashboard app and get "Group Not Found" when trying to access the preview forum.

How would I access registration support?

 

Hey FoxHounder. We can post your gamertag to registration support forums (because that's in the Early Access section, which you shouldn't have if you haven't been invited to the preview program.) My guess is, like Yapper said, the previous owner was in the
Preview Program, and you're getting the updates because, when Live sees a console with a non-public preview build on it, it continues to receive the Preview Updates until the end of the current preview cycle. Once the October Update goes public, my guess is
you will not receive the November Preview launch.

If you would like to continue with the preview updates, let us know, and we will post your name to the Registration Forums. If they then respond saying you aren't in the preview, we can send you an invite from our Preview Dashboard app!

 

Hey!

Thanks for the help. I received the invite message for the preview dashboard app today and installed it.

But all I get is a message saying "Info: Sorry, this console has already been registered to a different account" confirming what's been said above, but leaving me stuck as for what to do next.

Also, I still can't access the preview forums, I guess most likely because I can't register the console using my account?

 

This is very good info, FoxHounder, thanks for letting us know. I will post that error message for you to the preview forums, because I, personally, am not sure how to fix that error. I am guessing it will have to be "unregistered" on the back end by the
engineers, and then you should be able to RE-registering it using the dashboard app.

I'll let you know as soon as I hear something back on this!

 

Also, FoxHounder, if you would click the words "Private Message" at the bottom of this post, please send me a message including your console's MAC address - I believe the engineers need that info to know specifically which console needs to be unlinked from
the previous owner, and this will help speed the process along.
