Xbox One Slowing down the internet for other devices

Out of the blue my Xbox one is having terrible internet issues regardless of wireless or wired connection.

Latency: 1800ms

Download speed: 0.28mbps

Upload speed: 0.06mbps

The really unusual thing is that whilst the Xbox one is on it causes every other device connected to the same router to have almost identical internet performance.

Latency: 14ms

Download speed: 16mbps

Upload speed: 0.80mbps

an example of a speed test on my PC whilst the Xbox one is ON

Latency: 1600ms

Download speed: 0.93mbps

Upload speed: 0.40mbps

Of course I have tried hard restarting the router and the Xbox one, connecting the Xbox one via wired connection and tried using a static IP. Is there any know issue similar to this and a solution? So far there has only been one similar case on the forums
and I have tried the solution posted there with no improvement (Restarting the router whilst the xbox one is on multiple times until the internet speeds settle).

Xbox One S slowing down wifi on other devices.

My xbox is just slowing down wifi on all other devices.When the xbox is off the two arrows beside the wifi signal are both flashing.

When the console is on only the top arrow flashes??? I cant use google, youtube, fb....

 

does ethernet xbox one download faster?

Other devices using the wifi can slow down your internet, depending on how much data it's using. A typical iPhone browsing the web shouldn't slow down your internet. If you're doing something like downloading a video on your laptop, then that could definitely slow down your speeds on Xbox.

I do have the same problem. I have a fairly slow internet connection, living in a rural area.

As soon as the Xbox One is starting a download (be it a game download, or a background download for an update or whatever), my Internet speed drops from about 16 Megabits/second to 0.8 Kilobits/second on all other devices.

If I go to the network settings and check the bandwith usage on the Xbox console, I can see that the Xbox One is downloading at full speed of my Internet connection.

This not only affects my other devices, but also multiplayer gaming on the Xbox as well.

For example I can play Forza in Multiplayer without issues. But as soon as the Xbox starts downloading anything, I get a warning in Forza that my slow Internet connection impairs my multiplayer experience. And of course I start seeing other cars bouncing
and lagging around the track.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution to that, either. At least not for when the Xbox does background downloading.

If you see a game update in the download queue, and you absolutely need the bandwith, you can pause the downloads, and use your Internet normally.

 

I should have mentioned previously that there are no updates or downloads queued whilst the Xbox one is on, I understand whenever it's updating or downloading it will slow down the internet in general but I made sure that nothing was running in the background
as well as any other possible downloads.

 

I believe I have found the solution, I reset the Xbox one via the settings

"Settings>System>Console&Updates>Reset"

I chose to keep my saved apps and games so I didn't have to re download them. After that just run through the start up (you will have to put in all your details again as if it were the first time using the xbox). This seems to have fixed the internet speed
and latency issues on the PC and the Xbox, the test speed test on my PC whilst the Xbox was on shows no issue and the detailed network statistics on the Xbox itself show no issue either.

The last note I will add, I did have to do this again after I pulled the the power cable out of the Xbox and turned it back on as it went back to ruining the internet but another reset has fixed the issue again.

Even if there are no updates or downloads queued: Please check in the Settings under Network the Bandwith usage.

In the upper left part of the screen the console will show the bandwith usage.

Check if the console is "hogging" bandwith when your internet is slow.

 

Any solution to this as I'm experiencing the same thing and it's extremely frustrating!!!!

Was the Xbox console showing bandwith usage while on the Network Statistics page?

Because if the console isn't downloading anything after the reset, it's obvious, that the console won't slow down your Internet, as it's putting no load on your bandwith.

Please check, if and when the console is using your bandwith again, if your issue is resolved, as I'm afraid the reset just caused the console to stop downloading until it has collected enough information and starts downloading necessary updates (IF necessary)
