Xbox one slow download speeds

Hi guys, first post here, but I am looking for a bit of help if possible.

I haven't used my xbox for a while, but over the last week or so, I've wanted to download 2 demos (BO3 and today Fifa 16)

Both downloads start off fine, an example, Fifa today hit 22% within 5minutes, but in the last hour, has only managed another 18%. BO3 did something very similar, it got to about 35% within 15 or so minutes, but then took another 6 or so hours to finish
it completely. I really don't understand why the sudden slowness after quick starts.

My connection is wired, and has an open nat.

Under detailed connection statistics it shows: D/L Speed: 125.57Mbps | U/L Speed: 11.86Mbps | Packet Loss 0% | MTU: 1480 | Latency: 158MS

Under bandwidth usage: Current usage: 1.21 Mbit/s (This has fluctuated from 1-2Mbps, but assume at the beginning of the download was much better)

I have no download limits, or peak times where it is slower, its just happening on the xbox.

Are others experiencing anything similar, or have any suggestions as to why it is so slow.

slow updates

A main factor in the speed along with slower internet speeds is the size of the update.

Can you provide your download and upload speed from your ISP? I do not understand ".026."

DSL Internet isn't the best so you shouldn't have high expectations. Though there is a new update currently in Preview that will speed up/prioritize download speeds.

yea I have been getting very slow download speeds when updating Mad Max ... good job the update was only 400+ mb looked at look at my network monitor and my xbox one was downloading at 250KB - 500 + KB peek 780kKB ..

I'd just like to say that I appreciate the fact that you took the time to do a network test and posted the relevant information.

I can't say that I see anything that trips any alarms from that info... although the latency is a bit high, but I don't think I'd panic unless you're having a lot of lag with online gaming, and that shouldn't be causing the issue you're having.

I'm inclined to believe that this particular problem may be on the game server's side. The reason I think this is because there have been others who have posted about this and have described this issue almost exactly as you have. It seems to be happening
regardless of network testing data (at least to the best of my recollection). It doesn't seem to be limited to just 1 or 2 games either.

I've had this issue myself. Download starts off well, but slows down around 25-30% in. It seems to be random, but it does happen frequently enough to 'make note of'.

90% of the time my network tests at D/L: 49.## | U/L: 12.## | Packet Loss: 0% | Latency: 86MS

I've rarely, almost never, had a D/L stop or slow to a crawl though, but I can say that I've had a few that have slowed to a painfully slow pace. But that was when I pre-ordered a game a day or so before it was released and the servers were bogged down with
everyone else who did the same... which I promptly stopped doing. Now I either pre-order weeks in advance or wait a week or so after release, which has solved that problem almost entirely.

In short, I've had the same problem more than a time or 2. I'm pretty particular about how my network is set up and I test it regularly. I'd say it's not likely to be on your network's side... but it would be nice to know just what does cause it.

 

it could be so many things it would be hard for anyone here to say what the cause is, we can guess using any understanding we have with how a network could be setup and related hardware.

it could be so many things we would be guessing for ever and even if we did get it right then there is no body to verify the info

could be :

server hardware issues

server software issues

heavy network traffic

Poor network Admin

ISP Issues

that's just to name a few all of which are just a stab in the dark.

 

Well, just to update on the situation. I disconnected my xbox from the internet, waited 5 minutes, reconnected, and I was suddenly getting speeds of around 50-60Mbps again, so the speeds where very high.

It got me to 88% in no time, and then slowed right down again, so disconnected, reconnected and the download was finished within a minute.
