Xbox One shutting off while updating

This is the second time within like two weeks I've had a 3gb+ update where my xbox one just shuts off from what I'm assuming is the hour of inactivity....... while its updating itself. Is my only option to sit there and watch a download screen moving my
controller pretending in playing or do I actually have to turn this off cause I'm really not wanting to risk another reset on my xbox

XBOX ONE FREEZING WHILE PLAYING AND KINECT NOT WORKING .....

MY XBOX ONE IS FREEZING WHILE I AM PLAYING GHOSTS ... KINECT KEEPS WORKING THEN SHUTTING ITSELF OFF ... COMING BACK ON ...

XBOX DOESNT RECOGNIZE VOICE COMMANDS ??

did you turn off your xbox one while it was updating at any time? that would brick your console...

So your issue is with the hour of inactivity? You can change that from 1 hours too 6 hours or n/a if that's the cause you believe then head over too settings - Power & start up - Power mode & start up - Turn off after - 1 / 6 / N/A Hours

I usually just have my xbox shut off when it updates, I guess I'm lucky that way. Once I turned off my xbox accidently while updating and it messed the whole console up.

Same here.. and they want me to send in my console which will take 3-4 weeks to get back or put a $400 hold on my card to get a new one in the mail.. kind of annoyed by this... since you spend $500 on something you would like for it to actually work.. 3-4
weeks?? That's a really long time to miss out on when you're playing team events or leading a clan thru VOG hard on destiny. Just saying.

The Xbox is in an open clear space but after a few minutes the Xbox shuts off. I have had this same problem before. When I turn the console on it gives me a message about ventilation. So will a cooling fan help the issue or should I send it for repair?
Also, my warranty has ran out.
