Xbox one screen goes off/black after splash screen

My xbox one has been working ok for a while. About a month ago I could no longer hear parts of the surround sound audio program on my panasonic plasma. I tried all possible audio combinations and found that "stereo" output on the xbox worked. I left it
at that. Fast forward to yesterday.

Watched video programming in the am. In the evening the tv screen was black. I tried hard reset/power cycle on the xbox and did see the green splash screen and hear the audio. Once the splash screen was complete my plasma turned off. I turned it back
on and the screen was black with no audio. Tried rebooting several times with the same results. I moved the xbox to a brand new lg lcd and saw the same basic results, using a different hdmi cable from a working connection between it and a blue ray player.
One difference was that at boot, when the splash screen ended, the lg did not power off, but the screen just went black, with no audio.

I tried the reboot method holding the eject button when powering up, but that had no effect on either tv.

Is this a known issue, or some sort of failed automatic upgrade?

I'm having the same problem. Screen goes black after xbox one splash screen. Already tried your solutions with no luck.

 

Titanfall won't launch

Just bought my shiny new xbox one titanfall bundle today. Downloaded titanfall and it won't launch. I see the EA and Respawn splash screens but after the trademark screen it goes black. What gives? Is everyone having this issue?

 

Having a very similar issue myself. Xbox goes into Av receiver which goes out to TV. Had no problems for months. Last week started going black in game, still have sound, now as soon as I boot completely black. If I bypass receiver all works fine. Receiver
back in, have sound but no picture. Receiver works absolutely fine with my other inputs that in turn output to same TV. Only an issue with Xbox which I can no longer play.

Yep, same thing here.

Another thing I've noticed is sometimes would stop responding, but remain connected - or at least powered on.

I'm sorry to hear about the black screen issue being experienced. If you haven't already, please try these troubleshooting steps below to see if they can get your sorted.

• Power cycle your Xbox One console.
  
• Try a different HDMI cable
• Try a different HDMI port in your TV
• Try steps within our
  blank TV screen troubleshooter
• Refresh your display settings.
  • If there’s a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
  • On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.
    
  • Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console.
    
• Clear persistent storage in Blu-ray settings. (Settings > Blu-ray > Click Clear Persistent Storage)

As I said in my original post, I tried different cables, different tv, and the reset method described. I reviewed the blank screen troubleshooter. Nothing has changed the status and as of today, the xbox one continues to display the splash screen and then
go black and silent.

 

I was playing destiny last night and then the console turned off and now after all the troubleshooting above it still just sits on a black screen with no sound or picture. It is picking up that the xbox is there because the tv tells me it's in the lower
resolution from the troubleshooting but doesn't go anywhere from the black screen. Please tell me this isn't the new 'RROD' :/

 

Just like junkdrawer55, I already tried everything suggested. The black screen persists.

The Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool rescued my Xbox One.

I had to use the "restore factory settings" option to make it work though.

Thank you very, very much one more time. I am going to fill the survey now.

 

I just started having this exact same issue. Tried all initial trouble shooting steps listed above and no dice. Trying the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool as a last resort before I call into Xbox Support. Going to try and use the OSUDT2 option though.

 

I'm using the restore factory settings option now but the progress bar that comes up when it restarts is stuck just past halfway. Anyone else have this issue?
