XBOX One Screen Freezing

I got a new XBOX One for Christmas and set it up today. The machine is freezing on the home screen and I cannot get it to respond. I have done a few cold boots and left the box off for a while but it continues to just hang. Any suggestions?

What a total joke that is!

 

I too have had the same issues. Got it on xmas. I got the Kinect assassin's creed bundle from Best Buy. After booting it, everything seemed fine. Told me I needed a system update. Updated fine. Signed into xbox live. Then I tried moving around the interface.
System keeps freezing or being very unresponsive amd lagged. Almost like all the RAM is being used up. I honestly can't tell if it's a freeze or just certain tasks are being unresponsive. Without a task manager I can't tell. I literally had to restart my system
over 30 times yesterday. Tried the hard restarts and system reboots. Nothing improved. Still freezes up especially if I used the xbox button to go home then try to start another app like settings. Usually goes to switch then doesn't do anything on the settings
screen. Controller no longer moves the selector. It even locked up when I put in my password to access my wireless internet. But here's the wierd thing, when it locked up I pushed start after putting in my password and then it froze but the cursor in the input
box was still flashing. Today I went back to best buy to swap systems thinking I may have just got a bad one. But this second system is just as bad. Must be a software issue with the new update. And it really does it after signing in to xbox live. This is
my first xbox, I've always been a PS player. I think I'm returning it and swapping with a PS4 until I hear all the kinks are worked out. Very dissappointed. I understand the DDoS attacks were not XBL or PSN fault. But this freezing should not be due to that.
It seems isolated to my XBOX. And I'm still shocked with the 3 OS architecture that hogs a whopping 3GB of RAM! Why the hell wouldn't MS put in the 12GB of RAM knowing they were running such a hog architecture?! They way my xbox freezes and lags reminds me
of a computer with either too little ram, too slow a harddrive, or one with a virus hogging up resources. Hope their is a fix cause I can't even try Destiny, usually freezes or tells me I cl must connect to xbox live first to play, even though I'm already
connected to it.

 

I've got the same problem at the moment. New system, had it since Xmas and it had been working fine.

 

I'm having the exact same problem here. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've read a site telling me to unplug my console from the wall but I'm a bit hesitant to do so, want to see what other options I cantry first.

 

same here , got a console yesterday worked fine for about 2 hours then went to use it again and it is still bricked, going to get a new one today.

 

same here; particularly when installing games, the interface will freeze either for minutes at a time, or forever until you do a hard reset.

Please give the following steps a try:

• From the Dashboard, Press the Menu button on your Xbox One controller.
• Select Settings and then Disc & Blu-ray.
• Select Persistent Storage and then select Clear Persistent Storage.
• Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
• Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
• Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
• Power on your console and check to see if the issue is continuing to occur.
