    XBOX One Screen Dimming Issue


    I am a new XBOX One owner and have noticed throughout several menu screens and some games the TV screen goes dim for no reason. All of the settings on my Samsung TV that could automatically dim the screen are off and it is not happening with any of the
    other HDMI connected devices, only the XBOX One. I have been reading several of the other posts that stated this was a "known issue" but have not seen a solution. Any ideas or updated information on this?

    Screen dimming during games

    Hello, I am pointing out an issue with the screen dimming feature on Xbox One.

    When trying to play Fibbage, a game which doesn't require controller input as it uses a browser to answer questions, the screen keeps dimming unless you fondle the controller to keep the console happy it knows you are there.

    I believe there used to be an option to disable the dimming feature on Xbox 360, but of course there isn't one on the Xbox One.

    XBOX One Screen Dimming Issue

    Hi,

    Did you check if you have the latest update running, you can check this under settings.

    In some cases as physical power cycle can fix this issue. Hold the power button on the box for approximately 10 seconds until the box is completely powered down.

    Then start it up again if you don't see the green startup screen when you turn it back on you didn't hold the powder button long enough shutting down.

    This is a known and pending issue since the new update, particularly when streaming videos. Apparently, it affects those with the Kinect, but also those without the Kinect.

    As far as I can tell, the screen dim issue is related to the system not seeing activity with the wifi or other systems other than the controller itself.

    The screen should normally dim when you go to the left where your profile and other settings are (that p[art should stay bright).

    Well I hope somebody figures out a fixsoon. Because I have tried deleting and reinstalling my movie apps. As well as clearing the system cache and power cycling my system and it is still happening. I am about to throw the Xbox one out and get a play station

    Strange...just strange. I thought that it was my Samsung TV but this active dimming only occurs on the XBOX One. I have conducted a hard reboot and made sure that I have the latest update but the same issue still occurs. I do not have a Kinect sensor
    attached to I know that it is not adjusting based on ambient room light. It's not affecting gameplay so that is a blessing thus far.

    Hi Ashley,

    Try this to see if it fixes your issue with dimming.

    You can change dimming option in Settings. Just head to Settings > Preferences > Idle Options.

    Here, you can change the amount of time before the Xbox One will dim the screen, with options of 2, 10, 20, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. You can also use the option on the left to disable the aforementioned idle notifications if you prefer a more private experience.

    It’s generally best to power off your devices when you know you won’t be using them soon, but this option to manually trigger the Xbox One’s idle screen dimming is handy for times when you need to quickly step away but don’t want to wait on a complete power
    cycle.
