Xbox one says my nats open, but games says its not.

Back when I first got my one I decided I wasn't going to put up with strict nat like I did with my 360 that I was going to try everything until I made my one open, and I thought I succeeded I made a static ip for my one and enabled dmz, from then on under
my settings my one told me my nat was open, I could connect to my friends that had strict nat all of a sudden and it was awesome to finally know I don't have to put up with that anymore, but then I noticed some weird things it started off when I use to play
COD Ghost with my friends it would say I had a strict nat but my one would say it was open, but I didn't believe it was strict because I was literally in a game with two of my friends that both had moderate and strict nat so if I had strict I wouldn't even
be able to be in their party. So I just ignored that but then I started to have problems recently with the Destiny Beta, I would get on after choosing my character and every time a warning would come up and tell me my nat was strict and that it will degrade
my experience.. I would join crucible matches and make it a quarter through the game until I would get kicked and it would give me the notification to troubleshoot my network, in free roam, the tower whenever I was with other people I always had the chance
to get kicked out, and it confused me because every time I would check my nat and do the multiplayer diagnostic and hold lb, rb, rt, lt it would always show my nat information as being behind a cone nat which is good I thought. And Bungie was correct the issue
I was having was degrading my experience because I never knew when I would get kicked when playing with random people, so I took it onto myself to again try to solve my issue. I thought instead of using DMZ I would disable it and just manually port forward
my one, which I did.. And when I checked my nat status it still said I was open no change what so ever so I went back on destiny and got the same error message saying I had a strict nat, if my one thinks I have a cone nat when I don't how am I suppose to resolve
this issue? I haven't really had issues connecting to servers or people in the past on my one since giving it a static ip and playing around with some settings until destiny, and like I said Ghost gave me the warning but even so I could connect to people that
had strict nat when the game would say I had strict nat.

What Country/State/Province do you live in? WV

Router brand & model number: SpeedStream 6520

    Wired or wireless: wired

Things you have tried: DMZ, port forwarding, static ip

Is UPnP Enabled? I believe it is enabled

Do you have a NAT error? The one says its open but games like destiny says its strict

Any Error Codes you encounter: none

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider): Frontier

    Problems with controller/mic

I also noticed when playing BO3, it said my NAT was Moderate, when in my internet settings/connection its says i have a open NAT, I did format my router's DMZ to open the NAT. Its like my Xones Xlive says one thing, and BO3 says another??

Xbox one says my nats open, but games says its not.

Well I waited and nobody replied, all I really want to know is if its on Xbox's end, bungie's end, or my end, that's it.. Simple as that. I even turned my routers fire wall off temporarily and went on Destiny before the beta went down and it still said I
was strict.. If I don't get confirmation on what caused the problem and how to fix it for the future I may just cancel my preorder for Destiny. I hope it was just a beta issue because a lot of people were getting disconnected but I have no idea if there's
other people with my problem of having open nat but the game saying I have strict..

I'll keep checking this post to see if I get any answers ..

Yo I think I got the same problem, but with Fifa 14. Problem is I can't check the NAT type on there to see I have strict nat in-game. I got open nat on the dashboard and I have open pots and all that stuff. I even bought a new router and set it up and
I still can't connect to other players.

I came to the conclusion that Destiny and fifa for you may have specific ports that needs to be opened besides the ones that the one requires, that's my best guess. Thats why UPnP would be great so it can open the ports I or you need but I've had it on but
it doesn't seem to do much, I've even had dmz activated for awhile with no manual ports forwarded and my one says I have had a open nat for a while just with that, I just recently after Destiny tried to manually set ports. If this says anything to help I did
all the steps that supposedly made my one open on my 360 before but none of them worked and my 360 stayed strict. I've even seen people say that the one said their nat was strict but when they got on a game that said their nat type it would say its open, so
with that type of mind set should I make my one say its strict!! Xbox one says my nats open, but games says its not. :p Lol.. If what I said above about each game having specific ports that needs to be opened was true if someone could tell me how to possibly make my UPnP work or a way to remedy this would be
    greatly appreciated.

  7. I have had intermittent connection problems since getting the One. My 360 NAT is always Open. Earlier in the year I had the Teredo error. The error was eventually fixed either with a IP gateway firmware update or a One OS update. More recently, I had issues
connecting to the Destiny Beta. I was getting Canary, Lion and Centipede errors and my NAT was listed as "Your Network ids Behind a Cone NAT."

I spent an hour on the phone with my IP. I believe they did the DMZ fix and then they had me go into Advance Network Settings > Alternate MAC Address and Clear it. I was then able to get into the Destiny beta with no problems.

Last night, I turned on my One and got a black screen with the green globe in the upper left and a One logo in the upper right. I had to unplug and restart several times before the One properly booted. I then downloaded the Titanfall update and new map pack.
When I tried to join friends for Multiplayer, they couldn't hear me in the party (nor I them). I checked my Multiplayer Network and it said my NAT was Strict.

I am getting quite frustrated with the One and all its connection issues. I have 20 Mps down and 2 Mps upload speeds and cannot afford a upgrade in speed. Nor does my IP support IPv6 at this time. Based on what I have read, these problems are related to
the One always being on. Is that true? I shouldn't have to go through a massive network review after ever One OS or game update.

What Country/State/Province do you live in? MI

Router brand & model number: Gateway (can't remember brand)

    Wired or wireless: wired

    Things you have tried: DMZ

    Is UPnP Enabled? Don't know

Do you have a NAT error? Strict or Behind a Cone NAT after every One update, doing a Multiplayer Network Test and holding all the triggers/buttons usually reset it to Open.

Any Error Codes you encounter: Earlier in the year I got the Teredo error, but my IP or a following update fixed it. As of 8/30/14 the Teredo error is back.

Xbox one says my nats open, but games says its not.

Having a cone nat is a good thing but with me my one always has a cone nat but when I went on destiny it acted as if it was restrictive and booted me out every once in awhile it even would say I had a strict nat when the one said I had a open nat. At this
point I'm hoping it was just a beta issue because I'm going to keep my preorder, when I actually get to play the full retail game I'll post again what the game says. There's really not much else I can do without assistance I've literally done everything I
can think of, but it does seem weird how easy it was to make my one open when my 360 no matter what method I use stays strict. But the 360 matter is an issue for a different thread right now I just want my one problems resolved.

~Bump I've had this up for almost a month and still no one has tried to help... I went out and bought a new Ethernet cord and hooked it up and I still get the same result. Parties are now breaking with the latest update more often which I assume it's because
of my NAT conflicting with someone else in the party. My one under setting still says I'm behind a cone NAT, but I keep having issues connecting to people.

  10. I had similar problems until I got rid of my "Gateway" ......Netgear modem , Netgear Router......no need to forward or dmz or anything else , before when I had the gateway , I might be able to get it right but it wouldn't stay that way.......

Activision games like Ghosts and destiny don't use the standard xbox live ports which is why the nat can be open on the dashboard but moderate or strict in the game.

When you play ghosts or destiny the game will use demonware port mapping to open required ports via UPnP.

Some routers dont seem to be compatible with demonware port mapping so the NATs in each game will be strict or moderate.

I had to stop using my bt homehub 5 router for this reason.

If your router is not compatible with demonware then you need to use port forwardin to open the nats.

COD ghosts requires port 3076 to get an open NAT.

Destiny beta seemed to require port 1200 and this may be true for the full game.

Thank you for trying to help me Malacath! Upnp doesn't seem to do much and it is enabled, I will try your suggestion of port forwarding 1200 when Destiny comes out.

After forwarding 1200 I still get kicked out of destiny multiplayer games, but the little notification that use to come up and say my nat is strict doesn't pop up anymore. After I get kicked it says there was a networking issue.

    I got kicked yesterday too.

I don't think getting kicked from a game is anything to do with NAT. More likely a server issue or a problem with the internet.
