Xbox One Sales.

Its not important to me. I'm just curious into how successful the Xbox one is doing. That's all

I think the main thing to remember is MS have stated a number of times that X1 is the most successful Xbox launch ever. If the PS4 wasn't selling more, the X1 would be the fastest selling console yet!!

X1 is doing just fine regardless of what the haters want you to think

 

You mean if the ps4 wasn't so cheap and released the same amount of countries as the Xbox one. Xb1 will definitely be the winner right now.

Just asking a simple question, that's all.

I'm a multi-plat owner; always have been, always will be. I don't feel the need to defend or justify my choices, just curious as to why you think you need to by looking at sales numbers.

Wow... about 3 million more sold (if it's at 5 million) and it might reach the population of New York (8.2 million) !!! That's super impressive! That would be like everyone in New York having a Xbox One. Not the rest of
the United States, but who cares about those people...

 

More people buying a X1 wouldn't justify my purchase;it would however mean it makes finding opponents online easier, ensure developers continue to make games, and insure Microsoft keeps improving the system. As I have the "other" console too...I hope they
sell a boatload also!

those numbers would be MUCH higher if the 360 wasnt still a fantastic console.. A lot of the PS4 sales were from people upgrading from the PS3 as where it seems, due to price and support (and games), there was no real reason for 360 owners to buy an X1 right
now....

PS4 6.6 Mil

WiiU 5.9 Mil

x1 4.0 Mil

Also, going by Microsofts last statement of 3 Million sold in 2013, and Sonys statement of 4.1 Million, coupled with VGchartz data, then 2014 sales are:

PS4 2.5 Mil

x1 1.0 Mil

By the way, I am not "bashing" xbox, just putting some perspective to this thread. And VGchartz are not Microsoft statements of numbers, but they have been very close all along with their numbers. And if VGchartz are good enough for Microsoft to use on their
game boxes etc, its good enough for here too.

So, do Microsoft need to do anything to increase sales. More discounts & bundles? Or is it fine? It had a better launch than 360 in terms of sales.

My opinion is that as long as x1 sells enough to retain developer support, and it has, then all is fine. The competition from Sony and Nintendo will push Microsoft to give better deals, killer games and innovations we have yet to find out. So I think that
competition is good for us, the gamers.

It's probably sitting around 5 million now. It was 3 something last I heard, but that was pre-Titanfall and pre-$450 sale.

I dont know how reliable VGChatz really are, I keep hearing that they are unreliable and its a known agreed fact that they are estimated figures and not official. But as you point out, Microsoft have been keen to use them as a source for their game boxes,
and they have been virtually bang on with the figure releases Sony have presented over the last few months.

But adding up the total lifetime sales of both Xbox One and Playstation 4 according to VGChartz figures from the time they launched up to the week ending 22nd March 2014, this is what things add up to.

USA

Xbox One = 2,569,747 units sold in USA

Playstation 4 = 2,824,223 units sold in USA

Playstation 4 leads by selling 254,476 additional units in USA

EUROPE

Xbox One = 977,906 units sold in Europe

Playstation 4 = 2,364,518 units sold in Europe

Playstation 4 leads selling 1,386,612 additional units in Europe

JAPAN

Playstation 4 = 473,202 units sold in Japan

REST OF WORLD

Xbox One = 473,729 units sold outside of USA and Europe

Playstation 4 = 901,407 units sold outside of USA, Europe and Japan

Playstation 4 leads selling 427,678 additional units sold outside of USA, Europe and Japan

USA & EUROPE VS GLOBAL

Xbox One = 4,021,382 units sold across ALL countries it is available in.

Playstation 4 = 5,188,741 units sold across USA and Europe only.

Playstation 4 leads selling 1,167,359 additional units.

GLOBAL TOTALS

Playstation 4 Global Total = 6,563,350

Xbox One Global total = 4,021,382

Playstation 4 leads selling 2,541,968 additional units.

If these figures are indeed reflective of the how the sales really are, then its Europe that the Xbox One is having big trouble in gaining a big audience. That is where Microsoft need a big sale jump. If their European sales could better match their USA
sales then thing will be in full throttle.

Based on history sales of the Xbox 360. USA accounted for 56% of the 360s lifetime global success. Europe was 32% with the rest of the world making up the remaining 12%.
