Xbox one s won't stay on

So I have had my Xbox one for about three years, it worked fine until last week. I was watching Netflix and all of a sudden it shut off.
I tried to reboot it, I bought a new power cord. Nothing.
I went to Microsoft and the talked me into trading it in (apparently they don't repair the first gens anymore) and walked out spending $140 bucks with a refurbished Xbox one s.
I used it may be once since I got and it was just for watching tv. Today I tried to turn it on and the same exact thing happened! It turns on but it won't stay on for more than 10 seconds, the Xbox logo doesn't even show up on the tv.
I didn't try a new power cord for this one but I did move it to another outlet but it still won't work.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix it?

There's nothing wrong with your display output because it can still get to the green loading start up but the problem is the Xbox itself. The hardware must have had a general failure and cannot boot up correctly so if you have a warranty on your Xbox I suggest
getting a new one.

Xbox one s won't stay on

My Xbox One S will power up for about 10 seconds then shut off. On occasion it will register on the TV and hit the green loading screen but it always shuts off again before loading fully. It was bought in 2016 and has only been played for about 100 hours.
I have tried a different HDMI cable and plugging it in directly to the wall outlet. Anyone ever experienced something similar? Any ideas to fix it? Thanks in advance!

yea, ive tried all of this stuff. the power button basically just turns on for a split second and the fan will start going and then it beeps and shuts right back off. that's all it will do. :/

Hmmm then since the console doesn't turn on our troubleshooting is slim to none. The best course of action would be to go back to the point of purchase. Since the console was purchased last week it should still be under warranty so the exchange would be
quick and easy!

Sorry about the miscommunication. I still recommend
contacting Xbox support. As stated above, since the xbox will not even turn on anymore there is very little troubleshooting that can be done. What can be done

Please take the time to contact us with the serial number to this xbox. An Xbox agent can then go over any possible options for a repair.

Thanks for your reply. I've already blown through the casing but I will try it again.

On the assumption that the HDD is dead, if I purchase a new console - will I lose any digital content? IE my console came with a digital version of Forza 4, will I lose it if I buy a new console or will I simply be able to download it again on the new console?

Hi ,

Thanks for the update. Clicking and "blip" sounds can indicate the end of life for your hard drive. Though this is not always the case, it can be an early sign of possible hard drive failure.

Hi - Amber, I've managed to get my Xbox to start up again, but each time it tries to either download the update, or manages to download and then starts to verify the update it console makes a tiny "blip" noise and at the point it stops, hangs and then crashes
with a variety of 0x80070079 errors.

Does this sound symptomatic of a dying HDD?

I can try the offline but I have a feeling it won't work as it's a fundamental hardware issue.

Update: I gave up on it last night after it kept crashing out during both the download and verify section of the updates.

Tonight I've tried again and it's gone back to not even switching on properly
