    Xbox one s won't stay on


    My Xbox One S will power up for about 10 seconds then shut off. On occasion it will register on the TV and hit the green loading screen but it always shuts off again before loading fully. It was bought in 2016 and has only been played for about 100 hours.
    I have tried a different HDMI cable and plugging it in directly to the wall outlet. Anyone ever experienced something similar? Any ideas to fix it? Thanks in advance!

    Xbox one s won't stay on

    There's nothing wrong with your display output because it can still get to the green loading start up but the problem is the Xbox itself. The hardware must have had a general failure and cannot boot up correctly so if you have a warranty on your Xbox I suggest
    getting a new one.

    Hi Jurgen,

    Thanks for your reply. I've already blown through the casing but I will try it again.

    On the assumption that the HDD is dead, if I purchase a new console - will I lose any digital content? IE my console came with a digital version of Forza 4, will I lose it if I buy a new console or will I simply be able to download it again on the new console?

    Thanks for the update. Clicking and "blip" sounds can indicate the end of life for your hard drive. Though this is not always the case, it can be an early sign of possible hard drive failure.

    Hi - Amber, I've managed to get my Xbox to start up again, but each time it tries to either download the update, or manages to download and then starts to verify the update it console makes a tiny "blip" noise and at the point it stops, hangs and then crashes
    with a variety of 0x80070079 errors.

    Does this sound symptomatic of a dying HDD?

    I can try the offline but I have a feeling it won't work as it's a fundamental hardware issue.

    Update: I gave up on it last night after it kept crashing out during both the download and verify section of the updates.

    Tonight I've tried again and it's gone back to not even switching on properly :(
