  1. XBox One S wont recognize UHD capability

I just bought a new Xbox One S 2TB console to replace my current Xbox One on my 4K TV system.

The Xbox plugs through my Yamaha RX-V575 receiver, to the Samsung UN55KU6500 UHD 4k TV, through high speed HDMI cables. All inputs are HDCP 2.2 compatible. The TV is a 60hz refresh rate, and it supports HDR.

The xbox does not see that the TV supports 4K at 60hz, and it does not see that it supports HDR either. I suppose it is possible that the Yamaha in the middle has something to do with it, or perhaps settings somewhere in the Samsung, but I don't see the
issue looking through the settings etc. The Yamaha is supposed to be capable of handling 4k video signals, that's why I bought it.

Ditto for the Xbox One S........ Any ideas ?

    :)

    Xbox One S Blu-ray 4k Blu-ray

The Blu-ray player app, even when running on an Xbox One S, does not recognize UHD Blu-ray discs.

I looked up the error (91d70000) and it indicates that the format of the disc is unrecognized.

The app lists UHD Blu-ray in the description, so I am assuming this is a bug, and not just unimplemented support.

    Xbox One S HDR

I have a Hisense 43H7C with the same issue. The Hisense 2016 4K televisions do "process" HDR10 metadata but the Xbox one s does not recognize the capability and I'm using a high speed HDR capable HDMI cable as well. I know the HDR works because I've tested
it with HDR video on a USB stick and the tv's built in media player. There needs to be a way to force the Xbox S to output HDR regardless, or Hisense will need a firmware update to allow the Xbox to recognize it can process HDR....

I was looking through the online manuals for both your Yamaha receiver and your Samsung TV, and I think I found the problem.

Your Yamaha RX-V575 does not support 4K@60Hz, according to the HDMI specs in
this page of the RX-V575 manual
. It is only compatible with 4K@24/25/30Hz, which seems to be why the Xbox is not properly displaying 4K while connected
    to the Yamaha receiver.

I suggest you plug the Xbox directly into the TV's HDMI port, and use an optical cable from the Xbox to the Yamaha receiver if you have a sound system set up.

  5. You nailed it. The Yamaha pass through was the issue. Hooked it up as you suggested and BAM! Apparently some Netflix content is broadcast in 4K at under 60hz, which I could receive and view. That led me to believe that all 4k content should be viewable.
Not true obviously.. I was not getting anything in 4K@60Hz - which is a LOT I see. Yamaha users be advised......check your specs.

    Hisense 4K issues

Unfortunately the Xbox one S is only really capable of maxing out at 1080p UHD. If you want the full 4k HDR experience you'll need the Xbox One X. I dont think there's a way of getting it to run even in 4k UHD on their S. The only 4k you'll get on the
S is the streaming and video quality.

    4K setup for XBOX ONE X w/Sony Bravia X800G

I’ll try to get to some screen shots of settings I’m currently on and screens I’m getting. Basically the HDMI smart function on the Xbox One X recognizes it as 4k @60hz capable, but if i try to switch the resolution from 1080 to 4k UHD, it wont accept
that setting. Also i can try in another port but husband wont keep xbox set up that way since the TV speakers suck...lol. I’m just curious if i keep the allow 4k content option checked but resolution is @1080 on xbox, if i put in a 4k movie will it automatically
switch to 4k resolution, just not true UHD color settings?

Ultra HD movies have judder/dropped frames

I can't get UHD Movies to play at all. How they can advertise the XBOX One S as being capable of 4k Blu Ray playback when it clearly isn't seems pretty sketchy to me.
