XBox One S won't play blu-ray movies also screen flickers on 8-bit

XBox One S connected to a Samsung UN65JS8500 via HDMI.

I am having two problems and am not sure they are related.

First, the system won't play any blu-ray movies. The app starts to load, then the screen goes black, and after 5-10 seconds, my TV reports there's no input. Sometimes, the Xbox home screen will return when I eject the disk and other times I must turn off
the console. I've tried EVERY fix on the Support forums (Changed resolution, deleted reinstalled the app, change power settings, etc).

Second, when the color depth is set to 24-bit, the screen will randomly flicker to black, then back. When I set it higher - to either the 30 or 36-bit settings - the flicker goes away. I'm ok with leaving it on 36, but just wanted to mention this in case
it somehow affects blu-ray playback.

Current resolution settings: 4k UHD, 36-bit

The XBox reports all green check-marks on the 4k settings.

Any suggestions?

My xbox one won't play movies made with Nero Vision, yet my other standalone blu-ray player will.

Xbox one S blu ray problems

I have a standard Xbox One which plays blu ray movies ok.

However I also have an Xbox One S. Now this consume DOES NOT PLAY BLU RAY MOVIES.

I have a standard HD samsung smart TV,

Can anyone help?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the blu RAY app several times. I have even reset the box 3 times.

Update: Still looking for suggestions. The issue though has changed.

I've been able to play Blu-ray's on the One S but I've had to turn off the UHD on the TV and set the XBox to 1080p. If I leave the UHD on or keep the XBox resolution at 4k, it doesn't play. I've tried all possible combinations with the TV and One resolutions
and that's the only one that works. Any other settings and the TV flashes input not supported, then no input. Games work just fine on any setting, so my initial thought is that it isn't the TV. After contacting Microsoft support, they've had me reset the One
S to factory settings then reinstall the updates via a USB stick, but the issue still exists. They next step they say is to send it in for repairs, but I'm thinking its a software issue and not a hardware one. Could it be an issue with the one trying to upscale
the blu-ray to 4k? Has anyone seen a problem like this?

Again, any and all suggestions would be welcome.

I'm getting a bit concerned that maybe the Xbox One WILL NOT play 3d blu ray movies. This article was posted on Cnet being fairly sure it won't:

When I tweeted Xbox Support they have no information at this time (despite telling someone in May it will play 3D blu rays).

Is there an official word on the legitmacy of the Cnet article?

This happened couple of months ago when trying to play blu-ray movie, restart solved the issue.

Since watched few different blu-ray and uhd movies. Watched one this morning (uhd), in the evening tried to play blu-ray and display started flickering. Restart didnt help. Tried to play uhd which I watched this morning, display is flickering, tried few
different blu-ray's - display flickering.

Power cycle - done

Persistent storage - done

Bluray app reinstalled

Cables and ports checked, unplugged- plugged

Settings on the tv, checked, unchanged

***I have played a game from disc and no problems. If I was to uninstall the game and install it again from a disc, would that eliminate possibility of faulty disc drive***

Xbox One and Xbox One S are 1080P Gaming

Xbox One S will play 4K Blu Ray's

Xbox One X will play Game in 4K if they are Enhanced with 4K Support + 4k Blu Ray support

They Xbox One X will also Upscale on a 1080p screen so you will see some benefit of the Xbox One X

I went to watch a 3D movie tonight and discovered the same exact thing. All of my 3D blu ray movies end up with a black screen followed by NO SIGNAL. Regular blu rays and DVDs play just fine. I tried dozens of 3D movies and they all do the same thing. I
also have an Xbox One S and an LG 4K TV.

Thank you AutumnsDad! I turned off 4K and HDR in the settings and they will play in this mode.

Microsoft, please fix this, it is a pain to change settings every time I want to watch a 3D movie.
