Xbox One S won't play 3D Blu Ray

Hi,

My Xbox One S wont play my 3D blu ray, although my tv is a 4K to, including 3D option. I can watch 3D content from my Sky Q box.

example: I start the Djungle Book 3D disk, menu asks for language and after that 3D gets activated but then the Blu Ray App closes and I am back at the main menus on my Xbox. Blu Ray are working fine.

the settings complain about my tv not supporting HdR which it actually does after an update.

Tv: Samsung UE JU7500.

any idea what is going on?

Xbox One supports 3D Blu-ray discs when played on 3D TVs. Try checking whether there are any updates for The Blu-ray player app

I'm getting a bit concerned that maybe the Xbox One WILL NOT play 3d blu ray movies. This article was posted on Cnet being fairly sure it won't:

When I tweeted Xbox Support they have no information at this time (despite telling someone in May it will play 3D blu rays).

Is there an official word on the legitmacy of the Cnet article?

 

Looking up the Samsung UE JU7500 online, it appears that it doesn't have HDR support at all. A software update does not add HDR to it; HDR is primarily a hardware-feature.

As far as what I can tell, it seems that the Blu-Ray Player app crashed when you tried to play your movie. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Blu-Ray Player app? Give that a try and then attempt to play your movie again.

Try uninstalling the Blu-ray App and reinstalling it.

Also check for updates for the Apps and check in Display Settings that the Xbox is set to allow 3D.
