Xbox One S won’t install or update apps, including Report a Problem app

Hello there, and thanks for being an Xbox Insider on PC! Can you confirm for me that you have the latest updates to the Insiders' version of the Xbox App installed? As in, when you go to the Microsoft Store, there's no additional updates pending for the Xbox app after the beginning of this month?

So you're aware, this is a known issue that was being investigated in the preview versions of the Xbox app, and the latest updates to the Xbox app for Insiders included some fixes for the problem. If you have the latest updates, and you are still experiencing this problem, it is crucial that as an Insider you submit a bug report through the Xbox app so that our teams can continue to investigate and fix the problem.

To submit a bug report from the Xbox app:

1. Select your profile icon
   
2. Select Feedback
   
3. Select Report a Problem in the prompt that appears
   
4. Complete the report in the Feedback Hub app when it's pulled up

Check for the latest Windows updates

Click the Start button and select Settings.

Pick Update & Security to open the Windows Update window.

Click the Check for updates button and wait a few seconds to see if there are any new ones.

If there are, click on Install now. The Xbox app won’t install on the D drive issue will be solved afterward.

Not having the latest Windows updates installed can cause problems with the installation or run of any apps, so this is an important step to take.

Hi Alex, I’m Ryan.

I had the same issue with FH5 on a friend’s Xbox One. The update failed and there’s a general ‘Installation stopped’ error message (no error code or reason) when trying to reinstall the base game. Is this same for your dad? Is this the only game that won’t install successfully, and is it being installed to an external drive or directly to internal storage (try both if possible)?

What OS version are you currently on? You can find this info in Settings > System > Console info.

Okay, I’ll try to find other workarounds to this. Yeah, I thought that the manual update won’t apply to your situation as you’re on the latest build, but the team requested to verify this just in case.

I don’t believe that it’s a hardware fault, especially as the visual delay only occurs in streaming apps and not in any games. If it’s software related, joining the Insider program should help - there’s been quite a few updates since the last one that addressed this issue. The more recent ones might be the solution, even though the patch was included in previous updates.

Additionally, if there are any pending updates for Netflix and/or Hulu, be sure to install these. If you have the ‘automatically update apps’ option enabled, then don’t worry as the apps would of course be automatically updated anyway.

Can you also create a bug report for this error, please? The console should automatically collect all the relevant diagnostic info for the unexpected behaviour. You can add [Xbox Forums] to the title of the report, then share this here once complete. Thanks!
