Xbox one s won’t even download the “set up” update!

So I literally just bought a xbox one s yesterday (Wednesday, January 30th) because earlier yesterday my original xbox got fried.

I got home at around 6:30 pm with it and I start the set up. Well I get to step 3 which is the “update” section. It says “its time to update” then I see a wheel spinning in the middle of the screen.

I figure its just taking its time so I just go about my business while its loading. I end up leaving it all night. I wake up at around 7am to go check the set up. ITS STILL LOADING! Not downloading just that circle spinning over and over and over.

Does this have anything to do with the xbox service outages? I really love xbox and have 300 games on it. I dont want to go to sony. But if these problems keep happening I might have to.

There where issues with last nights update for the xbox.

Based on you're description I assume you're problem is related to the outage and/or current issues with the xbox live services.

I don't think the other people who replied understand what you are asking because I'm having the same problem. My brand new Xbox One S is going to sleep/turning off DURING the straight out the box initial set up update. Not AFTER it's fully downloaded the
update and it auto restarts. And when I turn the Xbox one back on, the initial set up update starts over. You can't get to the settings yet to set it to download even when the console is off/sleep because it can't get past the initial set up update. Nobody
has time to sit in front of the TV for hours, wiggling the controller sticks every 5 mins to keep the controller/Console from going to sleep partially through the Initial setup update and having to start over. It's been 3 days and I haven't been able to play
one single game yet on my new Xbox One S. Is there any way to prevent this?

I tried downloading it on the one s. no error message starts downloading highest i have got it to go is 13% and just stops and won’t start again even hitting the try installing again. Even the troubleshoot does not get it started again

And I thought x/s games meant they run on Xbox one x & Xbox one s

But having digitally purchased JEDI SURVIVOR DELUXE EDITION.

The store won’t let me download it stating it incompatible with my Xbox one S??
