Xbox one s won't change resolution

This is complaint I bought my Xbox one S about two years ago within 6-8months it stopped reading disks it had to be replaced . Now again my Xbox one doesn't want to change resolution it's stuck on 640*480,after doing my research on YouTube and trying different
trouble shoots it seems the problem it's something called Retemor/Retenor chip and I am not the longer one struggling from this issue.

*Next time put a disclaimer saying that your chips don't last so we can go to other brands, it's such an inconvenience. Only to think I was about to upgrade to Xbox X or the latest generation.

*My friend bought Playstation 2 before me and to date its still working zero problems

*So how do I fix the above problem? And what is Microsoft going to do since I am not alone experiencing this issue?

    :)

Netflix: No UHD on XBOX One S

That's the issue right there, Prezdead! My TV auto detects the resolution being put out by the source and sets it accordingly. There is no way to set my TV's HDMI input to display a certain resolution regardless of what the source is putting out. My Android
box and Roku 4 put out a 4k signal when I enable the resolution they should output is 4k. Unfortunately, The XBOX One S doesn't seem to do that.

When I do the video test on the XBOX One. My TV doesn't even flicker. It just pops up that it failed everything, which is incorrect. If I change the resolution on the XBOX One S to 720p, then it flickers and my TV changes the display to 720p. If I change
the XBOX One S to display 1080p, then the TV flickers and changes the resolution to 1080p. If I try to change the XBOX One S to display UHD, it does nothing other than go instantly to the failed screen, which states none of the options are supported. Under
Advanced Video Settings though, I have 24Hz, 50Hz, and UHD 4k checked. the problem is, the XBOX One S is putting out the 4k signal because the test says the TV fails everything and the TV will not disaply in 4k until the TV receives a signal from the XBOX
One S to display in 4k.

is 4k possible on 4k laptop when i have an original xbox?

As stated by An Old Freak (nice gamertag haha), the Xbox One S was the first Xbox console to support 4k resolution. However, your laptop may do something similar to "up-rendering", which can make lower resolutions look more crisp, and bring them closer
to a 4k. It won't be a true 4k resolution, but it may look better than its native resolution.

Xbox faulty or television the problem?

Changing resolution won't help. The Xbox isn't like a PC. Regardless of the display setting the game will render internally at the resolution the game was designed for.

Gamestop says Xbox One S will not work on a regular HDTV

I don't know what they are aware off but it is false the Xbox one S can run 4k or 1080p same goes with HDR it is optional to change the resolution go to settings - display & sound - video output - TV resolution - 4k - 1080p

its will work if i use 120hz on xbox one s ?

Hi, my name is Marvina and I will be happy to help you.

I'm sorry you have this problem. Follow the instructions below for a solution.

Learn about TV resolutions and the resolutions supported by Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S.

The graph represents TV resolutions from 480p to 4K UHD.
    Resolution options
This is what 720p resolution does:
Displays images with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

It offers a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area.
720p is the lowest resolution on most HDTVs. However, the image is still excellent and for a screen smaller than 37 inches, the quality of the 720p images is practically similar to that of higher resolution televisions. If your HDTV only has 720p and 1080i as options, you should select 720p for the best resolution.

This is what 1080p resolution does:
Displays images with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
This offers users a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area.

1080p is the most common resolution for movies, television, games, and many of the experiences offered by the Xbox. A 1080p TV offers the best picture quality, allowing you to enjoy Blu-ray movies in the resolution they were designed for. Each line of pixels on the screen is redrawn 60 times per second or faster.

This reduces motion blur and creates a sharp image.
Note if you have an Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One S, or Xbox One

    For more information, see:
How to Change TV Screen Settings on Xbox
This is what 1440p resolution does:
Displays images with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

This offers users a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area.
More and more computer monitors have 1440p resolution, which is becoming a very popular option among gamers. It is sometimes listed as "Quad HD" as it offers four times the HD screen resolution of 720p.

Aspects that you should take into account:
You must have an Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One

If you have an Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One S, or Xbox One

    For more information, see:
How to Change TV Screen Settings on Xbox
    Things to keep in mind:
You must have an Xbox One X or an Xbox One S and a 4K TV to use 4K UHD resolution.
Xbox Series X|S also supports 4K refresh rate at 120Hz.

This is what 4K UHD resolution does:
Displays images with a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.
This offers users a 16:9 ultra high definition (UHD) viewing area.

With four times the resolution of 1080p HD, 4K Ultra HD delivers the clearest, most realistic video possible. Play games on your Xbox Series X or Xbox One high dynamic range) on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One
