XBox One S - Wireless Display

Came across this thread "Xbox One Wireless Display"

There a user named G v zauBerBerg made a couple of comments that addressed questions I shared with the author, but were vague. Can someone help confirm the information?

There he said that the Wireless Display "is not a full remote controll of your Computer!". This makes sense, and I could completely see how it would be like the Xbox One Wireless Display app is merely a monitor for your PC. But then he said "But you can
also put a Mouse and Keyboard on your XBOX ONE, and some apps and games support this."

I want to confirm if plugging in such adapters will or will not work with Wireless Display app. I have connected a logitech wireless keyboard to the Xbox and the xbox recognizes the keyboard for most (if not all) type-field tasks. But when I go into Wireless
Display and try to use the keyboard when projecting my PC, I get "to enable input, go to the Action Center on your PC and select...". Im wondering if the Wireless Display will in fact allow you to use a keyboard connected to the Xbox while displaying
the PC, and that maybe its a matter of enabling certain permissions on the PC. If so, where would those permissions be?

Oooor, far more likely, the Wireless Display does in fact act merely as a monitor and the PC will not rsepond to any mice/keyboards connected to the Xbox One.

Can someone please help clarify this?

I posted to the original thread, but it was locked, and I was directed to start a new thread.

    :)

You may have to update or reinstall your Bluetoothdrivers for your PC! I was having the same issue earlier so i just reset my drivers and it worked, it just depends but that's an option.

Yes, you can remotely control your PC (on a local network) from the Wireless Display app provided you have ticked the box on the PC to allow input.

The limitation is that you can only control remotely using an Xbox One controller or the Xbox One media remote. If you have a chatpad attached to the controller (or other accessories) they won't work either. While the console itself supports mouse and keyboard,
the app is not updated to use these peripherals at this stage (very much like the case of Edge browser).

So clarification - yes you can, but only with a controller.

Never use it (or rarely) cause we must use an controller and i don't have a chatpad.

No, the wireless display app will only work as a projection (a second screen), like plug a PC into a TV using Miracast or a HDMI, this means the controling stuff (mouse and keyboard) still needs to be connected to the PC or phone to be able to use them.

Note: This app has been getting some reports of lag and a bit of delay from the main screen to the one you receive in the app.

How do I activate the mouse input with the wireless display app on the xbox series?

Hi, Edward my name is Jhon and will be a pleasure help you.

To activate mouse input when using the Wireless Display app on your Xbox Series S, follow these steps:

    Open the Wireless Display App:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide menu.

Select My games & apps, followed by See all.

Highlight the Apps tab, and select the option for Wireless Display.

    Ensure the App Is Running:

Make sure the Wireless Display app is open and running on your Xbox Series S.
However, it’s important to note that the Wireless Display app is primarily designed for controller input.

As of now, it does not fully support mouse and keyboard input. When you connect through the wireless display, the connected keyboard and mouse may shut off, and you can only use the Xbox controller.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct way to use a mouse and keyboard with the Wireless Display app on Xbox.

If you want to play PC games on your living room TV using the Xbox Series S, consider alternative methods such as using other screen mirroring apps or connecting your PC directly to the TV.

While the Wireless Display app is convenient for controller-based gaming, it may not meet your specific requirements for mouse and keyboard input.

Remember that the range of wireless devices like keyboards and mice can be limited, so ensure that the distance between your PC and the Xbox Series S is within the acceptable range.

If you’re looking for a seamless experience with mouse and keyboard, exploring other display options might be a better solution.

For your reference, I've included some links where you can find more details about the solutions I suggested
