Xbox One S Wireless controller freezes with light on

I own two Xbox One S and 3 controllers. Just one controller that’s out of warranty due to being activated Dec 1, 2016 has an issue when being used wirelessly. The controller will randomly freeze with the light being stuck on the controller. The console is
working just fine and the controller never had issues when wired. I have to remove the batteries and place them back in and they start working again. Sometimes just moving the battery around will cause the controller to start working again.

It’s been doing this from the beginning but never thought about doing a warranty claim and now being too late when I started chatting with Microsoft support.

Anyone else ever have this issue with their controller and is there a fix for this? Are the batteries just getting loose causing the controller to freeze with the light on?

All Xbox Accessories, headsets, controllers, even the Xbox One Elite controllers all just have a 90 day warranty here in the states.

Controller troubleshooting. If it's a software issue with the controller, this should help.

1) Settings > Kinect and Devices > Devices and Accessories > More Options

2) Select Firmware version, (even if it states no update available) and then choose Update Now.

- When its done it should state no updates needed

- Choose Close

3) Choose More Options > Select Assigned to and re-assign your profile to your controller

4) Buzz the controller. It should buzz. If it doesn't, either the feature is turned off or the batteries are low. Use new batteries and test again.

5) Go back to Configure and choose Restore Original. This resets the controller back to defaults

6) Pull the batteries out of the controller and leave them out until the Xbox has restarted from the step below

7) Hard reset the Xbox - Hard reset the Xbox by holding down the power button on the front of the Xbox for 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds let go of the power button then restart the Xbox.

8) Put batteries back in the controller

9) Re-sync your Xbox One controller to refresh the connection back to the Xbox.

Gave that a try and did a 30 minute Battlefield 1 session without problems. I’ll have to play longer tomorrow to see if that helped. Thanks.
