    Hey!

I literally just bought the Xbox one s and was having the same troubles. After some digging on google I came across a reddit forum and they suggested to unplug the external hard drive and it it worked! So if you have an external hard drive plugged in that
may be the problem, apparently it’s a bug.

Having the same network problem. I want my money back! My old Xbox one works great on Wi-Fi but my Xbox one S does not. Side by side the s starts lagging out.

  3. I have an Xbox One S currently and still have problems with WIFI. I think it's very poor that an accepted solution to this problem by even official staff is: "connect it via ethernet." It's clear the Xbox One S was just a cash grab between the One and the
X, since they just barely pushed the gpu power up (0.08 ghz!), added a 4K player, and what was supposed to be better connectivity with the upgrade from the 802.11a/b/g/n to the 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. The fact they couldn't just wait and figure out their connectivity
problems correctly, shows just how low of an integrity level big companies have now. The fact that some people had to pay $400 for this on launch, should be considered a legitimate crime.

This has been happening to me too.. I just got the xbox one x this Christmas and I've had the continued problem of it randomly disconnecting. I have great connection and its never slow. My NAT is open and my normal xbox one never had this issue. In order
to get back on I have to go offline then back online. Its been such a hassle. It's not my Wi-Fi because my other devices have no such issue. Yes I've hard restarted it, unplugged it, and I've factory reset it. I have a 1-year warranty, luckily, so i may just
have to take it back. Xbox One S WiFi Networking Connectivity Issues :(

Wow, I can't believe I'm not alone! I have had slow connection problems on the S ever since I got it. I originally had the regular One on wifi downstairs from my router and the speeds were really good and it worked great. I moved that upstairs (now hardwired)
when I got the S a year ago on black friday. For the record it's the grey battlefield 1 500 GB console. I have tried changing DNS servers, powerline adapters and looking up help for every possible thing. UPnP is on, NAT is open for both consoles, console has
always been on energy saver and every device (including the One upstairs) in the house work perfectly fine. Yet no matter what I do, with my 200MB Down and 20MB Up internet, the S can just barely get above 20MB download (usually it was always lower) with around
20MB upload. However even still, downloads drop to KB's and fluctuate like crazy. Sometime it even just stops entirely. Of course this also leads to randomly laggy gameplay, too. I've tried just everything and I just refuse to believe anything other than the
S has some kind of problem. I mean it was already confirmed to have a problem with the instant on feature. How could it possibly be a stretch that maybe, JUST MAYBE, the S has further related problems beyond that bug??? With this thread and others on the internet
it seems to be a very real problem that has been ignored. I'm getting the X eventually, and I honestly rather trade my S in, NOT my regular One, to get it. Let that sink in...

This is the first time I've seen this suggestion and I will surely try it. I don't have much hope but I'll take any new idea at this point.

  6. I recently replaced my original Xbox One with an S and am having very similar issues. I thought it was more ISP at first, but none of my other devices have suffered from the spiking speeds or random disconnect from WIFI. I'm not sure how they haven't fixed
this by now. Had no issues on original Xbox One.

I'm in the preview program and haven't had any issues with my S so far with the latest update. Hopefully it'll be released to the public soon, my brother's One S is having some serious internet issues, both wireless and cat7. I'm beginning to think the One
S may have a rushed network card, and therefore, a faulty one. The next update should she'd some light on this.

    Thank you!

Unf-cking believable that this is the fix and there's no way for Microsoft to send a note to everyone who was consistently at 20Mb/p.

I plugged directly into the wall and got 150Mb/s+.

I desperately hope you're right. I was also thinking of trading in my current S for a newer manufactured model to see if that fixes the problem. Has anyone tried this? A lot of new bundles were released this past holiday (2017 black friday/christmas), is anyone
having issue with those specific S's?

So after tweaking with every setting (again!) and various more failed attempts I FINALLY fixed it for myself! Last checked using the 'detailed network stats" option on the console, I was at around 160MB download with a 200MB connection. What finally fixed
it was changing the network mode to "802.11AC only" for my 5ghz band on my router (which my S is currently on). The S supports AC if your router does. For awhile I used mixed, and then I tried N only with no change. I always had the slightly better signal
for whatever reason with the 5 ghz so I have kept it on there for awhile now but still never had more than 20MB download. However I have tried the S on both 2.4 and 5 ghz countless times back and forth, as well as trying a powerline adapter and using the guest
network to separate it from my main household devices and it changed nothing. I only ever had 1-2 other devices in my house that could even USE the 5 ghz band and they were never on when playing xbox on the S. Since changing it to "802.11AC only" I now only
have one other device that is going to share the band and that's a laptop that most likely will never turn on while playing xbox. But regardless, it was irrelevant. The amount of devices seems to matter little if at all.

So the fact that nothing else was competing on the 5 ghz band this whole time, should have meant no interference nor should have been the cause to completely limit the speed to 20 MB. My channel selection was ALWAYS set to auto as well. Is there something with
the xbox one S network card that forces you to use AC mode even though it can handle other modes? Does it only happen if your router supports AC? My regular xbox one was on the same router in the same spot where my S is now and was also on wireless with no
problems with speed whatsoever so I don't know. Hopefully this in some way or form helps others fix the issue too.

Xbox 360 won't connect to internet without ethernet cable

What specifically would allow the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to connect while the built-in wifi would not?

My Xbox 360 S detects a wireless signal with 4 bars, and I am testing it while sitting it right next to the modem, so there is no issue with signal strength.

My Xbox 360 S's built-in wifi is able to connect to a hotspot, and it is even able to connect to my neighbor's wifi from my house.

Had the same issue above but now its solved. I contacted Microsoft support and they helped me out in 5 mins - the issue is related to connecting the xbox one s to a power strip or regulator, I connected directly to the wall outlet (the power brick is inside
the xbox and will protect it for power surges) - now it works wonders and connects automatically to wifi when waking up from instant on mode. Hope this helps

Xbox One S WiFi Networking Connectivity Issues

Exact same concerns for me from a brand new machine bought of Black Friday this year. Same concerns as those voiced from 2 years ago from my Xbox One S. I had a day one Xbox One and it recently broke from unrelated concerns and bought it as it was fairly
cheap on black friday. Literally since the first time I used my new xbox, in the same location as my old one, it had terrible connectivity issues. And has never stopped. In my residence is home to around 6 other consoles, 1 original Xbox, my Xbox One S, and
4 PS4's, with all connections running perfectly, except of course mine.

This is absurd that problems stemming years ago that Microsoft has no definitive solution or workaround and seemingly no effort to fix, to go along as well. Even a simple "We are trying our very best to solve these problems.", would be at least a little
comforting. I tried energy saving mode and power recycling countless times with little to no result. As fluid connection is imperative in any multiplayer game, and majority of massive titles are, it makes any game but single player games obsolete and cannot
enjoy playing with friends as is a normally huge component for gamers (and, personally, I have bought many with these intentions). It's just extremely discouraging that something as large as this is seemingly going unnoticed and unanswered, and to see Microsoft
neglect their loyal customers with virtually no response. I'm quite sure this will go unnoticed as well and I'll have wasted countless dollars on a new console and games that are now unable to play.

And if there's seemingly no solution, as I'm uneducated in this technology and all the computer science with it, I understand that problems arise, but at lease have the integrity to admit to it and provide compensation for your customers.

I picked up a one s on black Friday. Same issues as stated by everyone else. I am going to try to set mine to energy mode and do a power cycle tonight. This is my secondary Xbox and sadly, where it is located if I hardwire it in I get a double NAT error
due to having my own WAP wired into my Comcast gateway. If I set my Comcast gateway to bridge mode, then I lose the ability to hardwire my primary Xbox. Basicaly they just need to fix this issue. Are there any active Xbox admins around reading this?

Xbox One S WiFi Networking Connectivity Issues

I got the XBox One X at the beginning of December and all appeared well. A couple of days ago we have a power outage which caused the router to disconnect from the internet. Since this I have had issues connecting with connection to the router dropping.

Last night I was playing Destiny 2 when the connection to my router dropped out yet again. This time I was unable to reconnect to my router; the SSID came up but the XBox would not connect at all. To attempt to resolve this I power cycled the XBox, cleared
the secondary MAC address as well as rebooted my router. Despite this the XBox still won't connect to the router, even though other devices connect without an issue.

I will attempt the factory reset but not sure if this will help.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
