    I recently purchased the Vizio M55-D0 and an Xbox One S a few days ago. I have an Amazon Fire TV (2nd Gen.,) a PS4, and the Xbox One S hooked up to it directly via HDMI. I don't think this matters, but I have an optical out to a Vizio 5.1 soundbar
    from the TV (the 2015 edition, not sure of model.)

    I am able to cast using the SmartCast app/tablet and Vudu in 4K HDR without issue - and when I do this the system info under display on the tablet app says "2160P, 24Hz, HDR: YES.") I'm able to watch UHD content from Amazon via the Fire TV (for example
    Mad Dogs) without issue (I'd note this doesn't use HDR, signal readings otherwise do indicate 2160P and 24Hz.) The PS4 only outputs 1080P, but works without issue. Before hooking up the Xbox One S, I had an Xbox One hooked up, and this worked fine. I was able
    to play 1080P Blu Ray without issue (and display indicated 2160P and 24hz.)

    The issues are entirely related to the Xbox One S - and while the logical conclusion would be that its the problem - I'm not so sure.

    The issues are as follows: when I open Netflix - which should be UHD HDR on the Xbox One S - the colors for the whole system, including Netflix, become washed out. E.g. the Netflix logo becomes a faded orange instead of Red. This affects the whole system
    and not just Netflix, until I quit the Netflix app or open another app (which closes Netflix.) The TV info reads 2160P, 60Hz, HDR:NO.

    Outside of Netflix, playing games and watching content in other apps works (well, most of the time, I'll get to that in a minute) and reads 2160P 60Hz HDR:NO. There are no HDR games yet for Xbox One S, so I can't test if that would work. At first, I assumed
    this was a Netflix issue. But then I got a UHD HDR Blu Ray to test, and ran into more problems.

    When I put the Blu Ray in, and open the app, it works correctly until I get to the menu. Once I hit "play" (this was for The Revenant by the way) the video freezes (either at the menu or at the first few frames of the movie) but the audio continues. If
    I switch inputs and switch back, the movie is playing fine. It looks incredible, and the display info reads 2160P, 24Hz, HDR: YES. But... after a few minutes, video cuts to black for a few seconds (sometimes audio too, sometimes it remains) and then comes
    back. Sometimes it won't do it for 20 minutes... sometimes it will happen multiple times in a few minutes. There is no consistency to it.

    Making things worse, is that these issues seem to also affect other content after they occur. So after opening and closing Netflix, or after playing the Blu Ray, the Xbox One S will randomly cut to black screen, or worse, like white snow. If its snowy,
    the only way to get it back is to switch inputs and then switch back.

    If I restart the Xbox and just play a game, I'm able to play for a few hours without any issue.

    If I turn off 24 Hz and/or HDR, the issues cease (but obviously there is also no 24 Hz or HDR.)

    Some further details: I have the Xbox One S plugged into HDMI 1, which is the only port that has the "Color Sub-sampling" option in the Vizio settings that enables HDR10. I've tried using the cable included with the Xbox One S (Microsoft's suggestion,)
    the cable included with the TV (Vizio's suggestion) and my own (a HDMI High Speed w/Ethernet cable from Amazon.) The HDMI cable used does not seem to affect the frequency of the issue.

    So... what do you think? The TV and the Xbox One S are both still return/exchangeable, but if I can avoid that (especially with the TV) I'd prefer to. Again, the obvious points to the Xbox One S, but as I don't have another device capable of playing UHD
    HDR discs I can't verify that it isn't an issue with the HDMI port or the TV that is specific to UHD HDR content, so I don't have something to test it with. I could go buy and then return a 4K Blu Ray player, but if I can sort it out without spending $300
    out of pocket, I'd prefer too.

    If there is more information I should provide, let me know!

    FWIW, I talked to Microsoft twice. The first time they said it's a Netflix issue talk to Netflix. Netflix tried to be helpful but ultimately had me send them video of the issue and then said they couldn't see the issue. I tried in vain to explain that
    you can't really tell the difference well in video captured on a cell phone and wouldn't see if HDR is working, but to no avail. They ultimately said call Vizio. Vizio said the HDR10 support was limited to UHD HDR Blu Rays but that it works with the Xbox One
    S. They couldn't give me a more specific answers as to whether HDR games will work (when available) or HDR apps like Netflix. So I went and got the Blu Ray. When I live chatted with Microsoft about the Blu Ray issue, they said some others have reported similar
    issues (but not about the Netflix issue, which seems related) and they would follow up with me. They haven't yet.

    Netflix: No UHD on XBOX One S

    I can verify this issue...Netflix UHD does not work on Xbox One S. I have a Vizio M55-D0 with the latest firmware enabling HD10 support. My TV is now recognized by the One S video settings as 4K HDR capable. I am able to enable HDR support and it works beautifully
    with the Blu-Ray app (Mad Max 4K Blu Ray playing 4K, 24fps, HDR as verified by the Vizio settings app). However when I start Netflix, the screen flashes, colors mute, and video fails to switch to HDR or 24fps. Netflix app is clearly broken right now for HDR.
    If I switch HDR off on the One S, Netflix app is fine, plays 4K correctly, colors are fine obviously no HDR.

    Occasional blank screen while playing on xbox one s

    I'm in the same boat as most everyone here... I have a Vizio M55-D0, with 2.0.13.13 firmware, and an automatically updated XBox One S. I've power cycled everything, swapped cables, disabled HDR, and still I get intermittent black screens, and occasional
    white static!!!

    This is more than a little frustrating.

    Hi mike hstry,

    Sorry you're having issues with your 4k TV and your Xbox. Did you manually put in your video settings, or did you let the Xbox auto-detect them? If you manually put them in, try going to your video settings and allowing the Xbox to Auto-detect your settings.
    Also try following this link to troubleshoot some 4k display issues.

    Let us know if you're still having problems after this.

  5. Initially it did not auto detect, but this was because the TV only supports HDR over HDMI 1 with sub-sampling turned on. I did a full reset, and then it did auto detect with support for everything but 50 Hz.

    I've tried all of the steps outlined on the Troubleshooting page to no avail.

    Since my original post, I found a ton of comments that this is apparently a known issue with the Vizio M series and the Xbox One S. So maybe there is nothing I can do Xbox One S, Vizio M55-D0, 4K UHD HDR Problems! (Black Screen, Snowy Screen) :(

    I am having a similar issue with my M55-D0 and my One S. With HDR on I get a black screen/snowy screen when I load up a 4K Blu-ray disc. Normal 4K works fine'ish. I've tried other HDMI cables.

    Edit: 4k works fine. I'm thinking of trying a new HDMI cable that supports 18Gbps that I know for sure. Monoprice makes one that goes only in one direction. I have a friend who has one and his 4K works perfectly

    Edit 2: Had my Xbox one S swapped out for a brand new one. Was still in my 30 day warranty. Hooked it up to my TV and boom same problem. Not sure what the deal is now. Called Vizio and they are sending me a new tv. I might try the 18Gbps cable to test everything
    before I give up on HDR

    At least for the 2016 Vizios it is a known issue that HDR doesn't work properly with Xbox One S. I have an M55-D0 and when enabling HDR and booting Horizon 3 the image looks horrible. Colors muted and brightness way too high. Definitely not HDR. System Info
    in the Vizio app also reports HDR as "No". This same thing has happened with the Netflix app for weeks. Again, Vizio is aware of the issue and working hard on a fix.

    What I find very interesting is that the One S Blu Ray player properly outputs HDR for 4K Blu Rays. I own the Mad Max Fury Road 4K Blu Ray and when I play it, the TV properly switches to HDR mode and the film looks stunning. Vizio App reports HDR mode "on".
    (One problem however is random display drop to black screen...this is a known issue as well). This is what made the problem so confusing to me, but as you can see from the links above, a known issue and a fix is coming.

    Very frustrating as I bought this TV specifically to enjoy Horizon 3 HDR!

  10. I have an Xbox One S hooked up to the HDMI 1 on my M70-D3. And while it's great, there are black outs periodically.

    This only happens with the Xbox and only when hooked up to the M70-D3. I tried other sources on the TV, HD antenna, Apple TV (4th Gen), and using Cast, there was no issue with those sources.

    I hooked my Xbox to a M70-C3 (2015) and there was no issue on that TV.

    So, there seems to be an issue between the Xbox One S and specifically the M series Dx (2016 HDR Vizio TVs), I have the latest firmware on both devices.

    Ok, So I have a M65 D0, so there might be some important differences but here's what I did.

    My monitor has 5 HDMI inputs. 3 normal HDMI labeled "best" one High speed and one ARC.

    The High speed and ARC are HDMI 1 and 5 and known not to be compatible with xbox 4k. Both have "color subsampling option"

    Hdmi 1 would give me black screens and color static and Hdmi 5 (high speed) is known not to be compatible and would give me 2 second black screens every few minutes.

    Switched to one of the "regular". "best" HDMI inputs and has been 100% super ok for a week of hard use.

    My XBOX is set full on 4k, HDR, 24 MHz whoosits ,. allow 4k etc. Can see the 4k Netflix and everything. Only exclamation point is "this device does not support 50mhz"

    I guess I'm missing whatever color subsampling is, but I have HDR and everything else with no problems.

    I bought the 65 because the 55 doesn't have HDR or something. I forget, it was the only M model without a box ticked in the model comparison chart. So I skipped it.

    YMMV, but I'm good to go.

    Think I've figured it... at least for the m65.

    Do not use the high speed or the ARC channels. on the M65 its HDMI 1 and HDMI 5. The ones with the color subsampling options. You may not have those options. But thats what worked for me.

    Didn't even read the manual at first. Once I did it became abundantly clear that all the ports are different. I used the one labeled "BEST" not ARC. The high speed port is for certain non xbox one devices.

  15. This does not allow you to display in HDR, at least with the M55-D0. I tried it. As of today, after a long troubleshooting phone call with Vizio support and even longer with Xbox chat support, HDR will not function with the Netflix app or games. I have
    not tried a UHD Blueray yet. You can cast with Netflix and Vudu in HDR, however.

    If anyone is researching buying a Vizio for the purpose of HDR through an Xbox One S, don't. Don't buy either until you can verify the two TV and System works together.
