Xbox One S, Using A Receiver Via Passthrough.

Ok total novice/noob question here, but hope you guys have the answer.....

My current setup is my 2013 day one Xbox is through my receiver and into the console i have my Tivo box and all works fine.

My concern is, when i get my Xbox One S, will the same set up work and allow 4K to be displayed on my tv, or would the XBOS need to be directly connected to the TV, if that is the case, what would be the option to get audio from my receiver, optical? And
is this not inferior to audio over HDMI?

Please help.

Hardware or software?

Well I just got my Directv back on. Have a 4k LG,4k receiver, and an xbox one s as well. I have read a forum that's several months old and found out there's no 4k passthrough. If it's a software problem,has it been solved using update?

4K Pass-through on Xbox One S?

So what's the situalion in regards to the mis selling of products? A few people including myself were told prior to purchasing the Xbox one s that it would be possible to passthrough native 4K content via the HDMI in.I would be sending my Xbox one s back
if I hadn't already sold my original Xbox one as its a major feature for myself.

All depends on whether the reciever allows 4K pass through. If not then it's through the TV and optical for audio into the reciever.

I've been searching to find out if 4k is supported via passthrough and there seems to be no information on it. There are support articles on 4k but they mention everything other than passthrough which makes me concerned that it's not capable of doing this.

Hoping this isn't true as this was the main reason for upgrading to sky and and xbox one s.

Has anyone seen anything that confirms this should be working or is on its way in an update?

Forgot to give setup. Xbox is connected to tv directly via hdmi, then tv out to receiver via hdmi arc. It has always worked like this before with old xbox one. I tried connecting direct to reciever then pic to tv via arc, but then it says it is not 4k. Even
though reciever is capable of 4k arc passthrough.

Unfortunately, no. The HDMI passthrough on the Xbox One S does not support 4K.
