Xbox one S unexpectedly turning off

Hi. I have an Xbox one S and it unexpectidly turns off even when im in the middle of playimg a game. It even sometimes shuts off 5 seconds after i turn it on and sometimes when the green logo screen is on. Im not sure if it has power issues or heat issues
or whether to send it back where i got it from or not. Im scared to open it up just in case if I mess it up.

Xbox turns on then off instantly

Hey Taylor!

I'd just like to add that we do have pages with troubleshooting information regarding your console turning off unexpectedly or not how it's supposed to.

If I were you, I'd check the articles either entitled
Troubleshoot Xbox One unexpectedly turning off for the Xbox one or
Xbox 360 console turns off unexpectedly for the Xbox 360.

Look that over and let us know if that information helped you out with the issue

Hello Chasska1997,

There could be some overheating issues with your Xbox One S. Make sure that your Xbox is laying down horizontally and isn't sitting up vertically or on a vertical stand. Also, make sure your Xbox isn't sitting or laying down on a carpet as this may affect
cooling as well. Lastly, move your Xbox into an area that has good air flow. These are the most effective ways to ensure that your console is receiving enough airflow.

Opening up your console can void its warranty in the case that it needs a repair. In the case that your Xbox is still having heating problems, sign in to your Microsoft Account and create a

device repair request (assuming it is within the manufacturer warranty).

Once logged in, select, 'Register a new device' and put in your console's serial number. Continue filling out the form with additional information such as your mailing address. Having this problem looked at by Microsoft itself is a good
way at ensuring that you do not break your Xbox from self-repairs and that it is serviced correctly.
