XBOX ONE S turns off when starting a game.

About two months ago my XBOX started occaisonally turning off when I was starting a game: first, the screen of my TV turns black and pressing any button on my controller will not caus any reaction. After about 30 to 60 seconds
the console turns off, but the controller stays turned ON. The console will then not turn on by using the controller and after turning the cosole on with the button at the xbox itself, I will have to connect to the controller again manually. this problem only
occurs when starting games, not apps. Also it occurs more often: about two months ago when it first happened it was like 2 times in a week. Recently it happened every 2nd day an this morning it happened three times in a row. I'm getting worried because I fear
turning the console on and off again and again could cause damage to it.

It was a problem with the adapter after all, i got my cousin to bring his adapter and the console worked smoothly. Thanks for the valuable reply!

 

Xbox one turns itself off when starting a game

I purchased an Xbox one in the US, and got it over to India. Mind me, I did use a voltage converter, but turns out it was faulty and my power brick failed on me. That is to say, it made an ominous noise. So my xbox one wouldn't start. But i got another power
brick, and I was extremely delighted to know that my xbox turns on. But the problem is, that is all it ever does. When I start a game, it turns off in five seconds of doing so. Same goes with using kinect and some apps. Now what I think is that the internal
power unit of the xbox one might have been damaged. So I thought to repair it in some shop. Any advises on this matter?

 

Hey there, have you tried the following:

• Power Cycle - Hold Xbox Power down for 10 seconds.
• Clear Persistent Storage - Settings > Blu Ray & Disc > Persistent Storage

Yes I did try to fix the problem by clearing the persistant storage and that sadly did not work. But I have never before heard of the power cycle technique so I will try that first before contacting the support. I just hope there is away to not send it
to repair services. I thank you for your quick help.

Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the issue, it looks like you've tried some troubleshooting steps as listed above by the ambassador. What I recommend doing if neither of them worked I suggest performing a

Soft Factory Reset on the Xbox one console. Please be advised that when performing the soft factory reset it will remove your profile from the Xbox One console so please make sure you know the correct log in information for you profile. I hope this information

Thank you for the help. The soft factory reset sadly did not solve the problem or made it any better... I will try the hard reset now which will hopefully fix it.

Thank you for keeping us updated in regards to the console shutting off during game play.

Please
try changing the console to
Energy-saving mode. To change this setting:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide (Don't hold the Xbox Button on the controller)
2. Select System > Settings
3. Select Power & startup > Power mode & startup.
   
4. Select Power mode to change the setting to Energy-Saving

Then restart the console by pressing the
Xbox Button again. Go to System and select
Restart Console (Not Settings). Also, make sure the power cable is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector.
