Xbox one S takes hours to boot

Have a customer who dropped in their Xbox one s, this unit take a very long time to boot. I did all the turn on combinations possible, but hey all result in the machine taking way way to long to post.

I takes approx 20 min for the Xbox logo animation to appear and when it does, it takes about 2 min for the startup animation to finish. Once this is done, it stays on the startup screen for ages and doesn't enter the home screen. I gave up at 1 hour boot
and cold booted it again to try the eject / power boot option.

Anything else to try?

OK, perseverance prevails. Finally got to recovery mode after waiting about an hour after doing the Bind / Eject option. I then told it to wipe everything. For what seemed like a long time, nothing happened but eventually it rebooted and all is now running
as per normal.

Hi,

If you have any external hard drive, unplug it.

On the main menu of the Xbox one, press and HOLD 10 sec the powerbutton of the console.

Wait 30 sec , restart the console.

If the boot is correct, re-plug the external hard drive, turn off the console and try again to boot.

If 2nd boot is correct, all is fixed, it was a little issue with your cache memory.

If not > you have to format that hard drive to see if its just corrupt datas or an hardware failure with it.

If no external hard drive > make a factory reset ( https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/console/reset-console-to-factory-defaults )

If its fixed that's ok, if not > your console has to be repaired.
