XBox One S - System Update Bricked my Console

Here is a HUGE SHOUTOUT to the USELESS customer service within Microsoft and more specifically their XBox teams.

Ive posted this on Facebook and on Twitter in the past couple of days.

My XBox One S did an automated update that crashed and bricked the system.

Up until the automatic update, my system was running fine.

I tried all available fixes to correct the issue but NOTHING is working.

The error is an E100 code and each time I attempt to reset the system, the console keeps trying to complete the update but fails.

Ive tried all possible ways of power cycle.

When the update fails, I tried the USB update method from the troubleshooter. The update fails again.

I canceled all my online subscriptions and chatted with both tech support and senior level tech support all for them to say.

"Send us the XBox or go to a Microsoft Store for diagnosis but it's a $150.00 fee because the warranty has expired.

Why do I need to pay a fee for an update that Microsoft pushed out that in turn crashed my system.

Microsoft, you just lost a customer for LIFE.

Right but if it broke while playing a game one would say the game broke the Xbox. The code is a general hard drive failure regardless.

No, I was not in the Insider Program.

I do not know what the Insider Program is.

I simply turned my console on a few days ago and the system prompted me that there was an update available.

That is not what I was told speaking with Tech Support. Which I have a copy of the conversation.

I was told an E100 code was "Update Failed to Complete"

I will provide the full code later today. I would like an exact explanation of what the specific code means.

Ive attempted the troubleshooter multiple times.

Again, the unit was booting up fine until the point of the update.

The general updates have never bricked a console to the point the offline update can't repair the console AFAIK or ever heard of. I would go through the
troubleshooter again but if it still doesn't work then the hard drive has failed most likely.
