    XBOX One S Suddenly Not Detecting ANY external drives


    My Xbox One S was running just fine up until 2 days ago when I turned it on and wanted to play MCC, which was on my WD My Passport that I use as external storage. Unfortunately, my Xbox seemed to forget how
    to detect it. I tried everything to get it to work from power cycling the console, to changing cables, to even a soft reset. Eventually I just straight up switched it out for a new external drive. The same model of WD just a newer one. This time the Xbox detected
    it and I was able to reinstall all of my games and even play them for the night.

    Then this morning i wake up turn on the console and boom, the same problem once again. This time I tried buying a new cable to see if it could have been my cable's problem, and the brand new cable on a brand
    new hard drive did not work. I am so frustrated at this point that I think that my Xbox is just a drive killer but wanted to come here first to see if there are any other solutions I should try.

    I reformatted it on my pc and then when put into the console it was detected before dissappearing again.

    Yes that was one of the first places I went to. Nothing worked.
    Just to check, Which Mode do you have set, Energy save power mode or Instant on?

    Solution 2: Adjust the power management for storage if you’re in instant-on mode

    Check your power settings. If you’re in instant-on mode:

    1. Press the Xbox button
      to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > Power & startup >
      Power mode & startup.
    3. Confirm that your Power mode is set to Instant-on.
    4. Unselect the option When Xbox is off, turn off storage.
    5. Restart your Xbox, and then go to Settings and select
      System       > Storage and see if your device now appears in the list.
