Xbox One S Start up issue

Hello all, this is more of an informative post. I received my Xbox One S today and while I was trying to set it up, every time it tried to connected wirelessly to my network, the console would restart. I got around it by hard lining it and now everything
works great. I just wanted to leave this here in-case anyone else had this issue as well. Cheers!

Hi there,

the reason the offline system update can't be selected is likely because there is no offline system update available.

Can you try the steps on the following support page to see if you can run the offline update: https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/console/reset-factory-defaults-using-usb-flash-drive

If that also fails then it is best to contact Xbox Support (Phone or Microsoft Support Chat) to see if they have any addition steps to try. If they don't then the only option will be to have the console serviced/repaired

 

Xbox one start up issue

Hi, i've just come to turn my xbox on and first of all it had 2 start up beeps instead of the usual 1, with about 5 seconds between each one, which i thought was strange. Then a troubleshoot screen comes up with continue, Offline system update (which can't
be selected), Reset this xbox and Turn off this xbox. I've selected all of these but each one i select the xbox just restarts itself and the the same troubleshoot page comes up again. Was working fine before but haven't used it in about a week, Any ideas guys?

 

This was also a common issue on the original Xbox One as well, and there is no definitive solution either (besides using ethernet, obviously). Very odd indeed.

 

That's weird. I've had two different original Xbox One consoles and never ran into this issue. I believe you though.

Hi ProMourinho88, the poster used a wired connection rather than wireless to get around the restarting issue.

Another way is to remove the password from your wireless network temporarily until the Xbox has done the initial update etc, then you can password protect your network again.

Yes. Remove the security password from your router then re-connect. Seems to solve the issue for people.

 

Also ethernet cable solves ?

 

Yes using an Ethernet cable will also give the same result.
