squeak / alarm when INSTANT ON mode is set and the console is turned off

when the fan turns off

the squeak / alarm is still on all the way until the console is off the socket

It is heard about 30cm from the console in absolute silence

Unfortunately, my microphone is not able to record this sound

When the console is in power saving mode + automatic updates are turned off

there is no squeak / alarm

This sound of a squeal can be compared to a 'transformer'

occurs only in INSTANT ON mode

whereas in energy saving mode it is not

in power saving mode after turning off the console

On internet forums they write that it's squeaking coils in the console

when it is in mode Instant OF

in the energy saving mode there is not this squeak

Is it fine if I unplugged my console while it was set to Instant On?

I turned off my Xbox One when it was set to Instant On and then unplugged it. Not sure but is it totally fine? Are you supposed to set the console to Energy-saving mode before unplugging it?

If the console is set to "Energy-saving", after 60 minutes of inactivity, the console is turned off. In "Instant-on" mode you have the possibility to keep
the console, games and apps updated.

So, even in "Instant-on" mode, when my Xbox gets updated, the game still will be closed, right?

It probably is coil whine, in which case the only real options are to get it replaced or repaired, assuming it's really bothering you. If it's under warranty, contact Xbox Support and they'll be able to help you.

The reason it happens in certain situations and not others is because a certain level of power draw can cause components inside the console to vibrate, which is what generates the noise.

Coil whine doesn't necessarily mean that there's an issue with the console that will cause it to fail, but the noise can be annoying. I had it happen with my regular Xbox One and I got it replaced by Microsoft.

Yes there is the "Instant-On" mode which gives quicker startup time and will let the console download system updates and apply them when they become available..

When you have set the consoles Power mode to "Instant" on you just turn it off like before and it will enter Instant off mode instead of turning completely off

Have you changed the power mode of you xbox so that when you turn it off it is actually turning off, and not going into "instant on" mode?

If it's set to "instant on" mode you can alternatively just hold the power button down on the front of the console for 5 seconds to completely shut down your xbox.

The Instant-On feature on the Xbox One, One S and One X consoles can cause compatibility issues with the on board switch inside some routers, I would suggest you try turning off the Instant-On feature on your console and try connecting.

To turn off the Instant-On feature on your Xbox One, One S and One X consoles:

Press the Xbox logo button on your controller to open the guide.
Select Settings > All settings.
Select Power & startup > Power mode & startup.
Select Power mode and change the setting to Energy-saving mode.
Once the Energy-saving mode has been selected you should no longer experience disconnection issues.

If you have the console set for instant on mode, turning the console off will put it into standby mode. You would have to turn it completely off by holding the power button down on the console.

If it's not on instant on mode, then turning it off via the controller or settings would turn it completely off.
