Xbox One S spontaneous shutdown

I recently purchased the Xbox One S 1 Terabyte Battlefield 1 edition. My system kept shutting down spontaneously. Curiously this only occurred during GamePlay. I made sure that the system was well ventilated and on a wide open table top. Still the system
would shut down- apparently due to overheating- after only 4 or 5 minutes of game play. When I simply downloaded material or just left the system in the startup state- i.e. no GamePlay- there was no problem.

I found it difficult to believe that it was overheating until I tried game play with a large window fan blowing air directly on the unit. With the fan going I was able to continuously play without problem. Take the external fan away and the system would
shut down.

I offer this to other folks who may be experiencing similar issues with their systems. Try running a fan and blowing cool air across the system. If that keeps things up and running it is likely that indeed there is an overheating issue. I suspect that
my particular unit had a faulty fan or IC.

Very frustrating but it seems that a good number of other individuals have had this similar problem. I plan on sending my unit back for a replacement. I am hoping that the next unit does not have similar issues.

Becoming more and more concerned about quality control with Microsoft products. My brother purchased the same edition and the controller was faulty with his unit.

Xbox One death knell

Do you hear the crowd? That's not fake cheering like at the MS event, that's spontaneous. That cheering for Sony is the death knell of the Xbox One.

console turns off with disc

the Xbox one S shutdown if i put a over watch disc in but it won't if i put any other discs in and if it does work (sometimes) it will download to 81% and stop and says installation stopped

Almighty Dire

I have an Xbox One, every time I try to stream on Mixer with a cam and not with a cam the Xbox One spontaneously shuts down. When I do not use a cam it take longer for the shut down to happen. If I turn it back on immediately and try again it takes less
and less time til unwanted shutdown.

I have tried every fix from Power Cycles, to dusting and increased ventilation , to clearing all caches and persistent storage. I even tried it on a Different Xbox One with the same outcome.

If I had to guess, the Broadcast dashboard and mixer is causing a critical power/temp fault by overtaxing the system. I have stream evidence of spontaneous shutdown on Mixer Almighty_Dire

No, I didn't try this, as I am not having installation problems. I am having "spontaneous console shutdown while playing the game" problems. I'm just watching this thread, and many others, in case there is an update or fix for this issue, which may fix
MY issue.
