    Xbox One S- Smelling like burning wires/plastic


    Console is about 2 years old, and started to smell of burning wires today. Always well ventilated. Increased use due to COVID-19. Any suggestions?

    I would definitely keep a close eye on it as it may be a fire danger, check that all the vents are free of dust and its out in the open for best air circulation.

    So that tells me that your xbox likely has internal damage or a short that is causing overheating or wire connections to begin to fry. It's gonna get worse over time, so i would highly recommend looking into getting it repaired as soon as possible. It could
    run like that for a long time, or it could fail soon, so if you decide to look into getting it repaired, here's a link to the Xbox repair page.

    Have you checked the power cord to see if it's hot? It really could be anything wrong with it. But Definitely get the system checked out.

    I would highly suggest not using it till it is repaired as it sounds like maybe its shorting or theres damage to one (or more) of the wires. Using this will only make it worse. If it is on Instant-on mode then I would turn it to power saver mode so that
    when your asleep it's not running in the background
