  1. Xbox one s, Smart Delivery to Xbox series S

I purchased Assassins Creed Valhalla Gold Edition on launch Day knowing I would eventually get the new gen of consoles I ended up getting the Xbox series S edition and it says that Smart Delivery is avalible and you only have to buy once for all consoles.
But i keep getting the "do you own this game" see microsoft store and even in store it says you can play this game but when clicking to pay it takes me right back do you own this game. This happens also on the new Watch dogs.

    Please Help

    :)

Xbox 1 to Xbox series x/s

Yes. Xbox One games will be backwards compatible with the Series S/X. There are also games like Valhalla and Cold War that support Smart Delivery. With Smart Delivery, you can buy the games now on the One and you'll be able to download the Series S/X version
    for free.

    Smart Delivery Series S

Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

With Smart Delivery, a new technology introduced with Xbox Series X|S, you get the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game in one purchase, and the best version of the game will automatically be delivered to your console, regardless of generation – no extra steps required from you.

For example, if you purchase a Smart Delivery game for your Xbox One and you later upgrade to an Xbox Series X|S, you’ll automatically receive the Xbox Series X|S optimized version of the game at no additional cost.

If I sell my Xbox one and get an Xbox Series S, will I still have all of my games and progression??

    Hello,

Keep in mind that this would only apply to games that support Smart Delivery, which is a feature that the developers decide to enable. The full library is confirmed here:

    https://www.xbox.com/games/optimized

GTA 5 is one example that doesn’t support Smart Delivery - meaning that you would unfortunately need to purchase the game again if upgrading to a Series X|S. Your game saves/progress (including your online character) can be transferred, though:

Can you play Current gen versions on Next gen?

Both games use smart delivery, so can only download the Xbox Series X|S version of the game on the Xbox Series X|S. If you want to play the Xbox One versions, then playing on the Xbox One is your only option.

Can i download the Xbox One version of dying light 2 on my Series X?

When the Series X/S was sent out to testers pre-release, it was possible to install Xbox One versions of Smart Delivery Games....however, it seems it was made impossible for general release.

Found this from just after release:

"Update 18/11/2020: Microsoft has followed up with a statement, confirming that the decision to force Smart Delivery games to upgrade is indeed purposeful. So you’re locked out of playing your Xbox One version of any game with Smart Delivery. RIP your internal SSD space.

“Titles that support Smart Delivery will automatically detect what device you are playing on – Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X or Xbox One – and deliver the best version of the game available to you. We believe delivering the version of a game that has been specifically optimized and tailored to your device is the best user experience, which is why Smart Delivery was developed this way. For additional information on managing upgrades with Smart Delivery, please go to Xbox Support.”https://www.gamespew.com/2020/11/xbox-series-x-s-doesnt-force-you-to-upgrade-smart-delivery-games/
