Xbox One S / Slight Fan Ticking

Not sure if I should be worried about it. So just wanting a little advise. My new Xbox One S has a slight ticking sound. It is definetly the fan, and not the hard drive. It is very very faint though. In order to hear it, I have to put my ear like 2-3 inches
away. So for normal use, it is obviously no big deal at all. And even when I put my ear up close, it is still pretty faint, but apparent. And does get a little faster as the fan ramps up a little bit under heavy load. But does not get any louder. Would you
consider this normal? I just don't want the fan failing a few months from now. Since I could do a simple retail swap if it is a concern at this moment. Or is it something I really shouldn't worry about at all? And keep enjoying the new machine. Xbox One S / Slight Fan Ticking :) Thanks for
    your help fam!

    :)

Return it and try another. Far too early into its life cycle to be hearing the fan making ticking noises.

  5. I have a XBox One S, and I do not hear the sound you're referring to. I would definitely recommend swapping it out. It may be nothing, but it's better to play it safe than deal with issues down the road.

Xbox One S Weird Fan Sound

I just want u to know that the "ticking" fan sound is very common... My xbox one s have had this issue since brand new.

There are professional tests done, check youtube. It's nothing to worry about since the fan aren't broken or anything. It's just anoying.

    No need to worry 😉

Weird Noise coming from Power Brick

@Mister Urkel - The noise my PSU makes is caused by the fan. Either the bearing is a bit dodgy, the fan is a little out of alignment, or there's something touching the blades, but it makes a really fast ticking noise. The noise is very quiet - I can't hear
it when I'm gaming - but the fan runs 24/7 when the Xbox One is set to sleep mode, so when I'm not gaming and I'm sitting in the room quietly, I can hear "tick, tick, tick, tick". It's annoying to the point where I disabled the sleep mode so that the PSU turns
off when the console is off, but that gimps some of the Xbox One's features. I have tried plugging the PSU directly into a wall socket and plugging it into a power strip, but it's the same either way.

To be honest, it was exactly the same with the Xbox 360 S power supplies. When that revision of the console came out, tons of people said "the console is really quiet, but the fan in the PSU is noisy!" and my own 360 S PSU is quite noisy, but at least with
that, when the 360 S is turned off, the PSU fan goes off as well.

Personally, I don't consider these PSUs to be good quality, but a good quality PSU costs quite a lot of money, so I can see why they are the way they are, but it's a shame when the console itself is so quiet. I'm a bit baffled why the PSU couldn't be inside
the case this time, given the relatively low power draw of the console. A large TV will consume about the same Wattage as the Xbox One under load, yet the power board in TVs is small and quiet and inside a thin case too.

slight ticking/crackling noise from Xbox one console

MIne is ticking. I suspect it's the fan because when I turn off the unit, the ticking continues until the fan stops moving. The ticking is coming from just over the CPU location at the top where the exhaust fan is blowing out. The ticking gets more frequent
(and maybe louder?) when I play a game and less frequent when watching TV or Netflix. The unit started out silent, but each day the ticking becomes increasingly noticeable.

I have no problems with functionality at all, but the noise is distracting.

Is someone from Xbox One support monitoring these threads?
