Xbox One S Setup

Does anyone have a working setup with a Xbox one s and or S digital?

I have both my console and soundbar plugged into my TV. My Xbox One S is connected to HDMI 1 and my soundbar is connected to HDMI 2 (ARC). It's the recommended setup.

It's also the exact same setup as before with my old Xbox One.

Again, with this setup I am not able to get surround sound on the S, which didn't happen with the non-S.

Do you mean that after I setup my xbox in the start, then I won't need a TV for projecting it to my laptop?

Most laptops do not have an HDMI input, only the output, and that is probably your case since you need to rely on a TV for the initial setup. Once that is done, you can use the companion app to stream from your console to your laptop, with no need to have
a TV. Of course if for any reason the streaming is not starting (it happens for example whenever the console needs to update after you start it up), you will not be able to do any troubleshooting on the console since you cannot see it.

I use this method to stream my ONE S to my PC when the TV is "taken" so I can say it actually works fine, but I would not use it as the only method available as you never know when you might need a TV to sort things out. Also depending on your hardware /
set up, the streaming may not be top notch so if possible I'd go for a TV anyway.

Other methods would require you to buy additional stuff for your laptop, so again, if you need to spend money, better go for the best solution.

You need to contact the administrator of your community network and request that your Xbox One console be added to the community network filter. When you ask the community admin to add your console to a filter, you must have your console's IP address and
MAC address available. To find the IP address and MAC address for your Xbox console, follow these steps:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select Network.
5. Select Network settings. Any known outages will appear in the middle of the screen.
6. Select Advanced settings.
7. The IP address and MAC address will be listed on the right-hand side.
8. Document the IP address.
9. Document the MAC address.

When you have this information, contact your community admin. If the admin is unable or unwilling to add your console to the network filter, you will not be able to connect to Xbox Live on that network.

Or ask your network administrator for the MAC address of your community network and enter it manually under your console's alternate MAC Address.
