xbox one s setup stops at account, next.

Does anyone have a working setup with a Xbox one s and or S digital?

Thanks for your advice, it is much appreciated. I followed what you said and hopefully the below illustrates the 'pre' and 'post' setups;

PRE

Xbox one S: SET AS HOME XBOX

Family Setup

Adult (me) with Ultimate Gold Account

Child 1

Child 2

NOW

Xbox One X: SET AS HOME XBOX

Family Setup

Adult (me) with Ultimate Gold Account

Child 1

Xbox one S: NO LONGER HOME XBOX

Family Setup

Adult (me)

Child 2

So on the Xbox One X (Set as home console) when Child 1 logs on with his account, he can go online with his friends etc. No Problem. I (Adult) don't need to be logged in for this to happen.

However, on the Xbox One S (No longer home console), when Child 2 logs on with his account, he cannot go online with his friends. It says he doesn't have Xbox Live Gold. HOWEVER.... If I log on and then he tries again it works!

Is this normal, or have I missed something on the setup? I'd rather not have to sign in for him before he can get online. Hope this makes sense? Thanks again for your help.

I have both my console and soundbar plugged into my TV. My Xbox One S is connected to HDMI 1 and my soundbar is connected to HDMI 2 (ARC). It's the recommended setup.

It's also the exact same setup as before with my old Xbox One.

Again, with this setup I am not able to get surround sound on the S, which didn't happen with the non-S.

Do you mean that after I setup my xbox in the start, then I won't need a TV for projecting it to my laptop?

Most laptops do not have an HDMI input, only the output, and that is probably your case since you need to rely on a TV for the initial setup. Once that is done, you can use the companion app to stream from your console to your laptop, with no need to have
a TV. Of course if for any reason the streaming is not starting (it happens for example whenever the console needs to update after you start it up), you will not be able to do any troubleshooting on the console since you cannot see it.

I use this method to stream my ONE S to my PC when the TV is "taken" so I can say it actually works fine, but I would not use it as the only method available as you never know when you might need a TV to sort things out. Also depending on your hardware /
set up, the streaming may not be top notch so if possible I'd go for a TV anyway.

Other methods would require you to buy additional stuff for your laptop, so again, if you need to spend money, better go for the best solution.
