Xbox One S set to instant on, but isn't getting any autoupdates

My Xbox one S is constantly waiting for me to update games and system updates when I start it up, despite the console being set to instant on.

My previous Xbox One used to do all updates for me overnight etc so i was never bothered with them when the console is booted up

    :)

Xbox One S turning off overnight

    Hi

Anyone got any ideas why my New Xbox One S is turning itself off overnight? Its set to instant on and not to ever power down

Xbox one frequently requires a hard reset

Hi philly fresh. Do you have your xbox one set to instant on mode ?

    -

From my own experiences instant on mode isn't quite perfect, the xbox one never gets to shut down and clear the memory correctly. Switching to energy saving mode has been proven to stop this occurring again but of course also prevents users from using the
    instant on features.

Xbox One S set to instant on, but isn't getting any autoupdates

    Hi

Can you please check your settings to see if the console is set to automatically download updates? Please see the link and instructions below for how to check and adjust this setting.

Energy-saving Mode | Instant-On Mode | Xbox One Power Modes

To update your console automatically, you must select the setting to keep your console, games, and apps up to date.

Also, to take updates, your console needs to be turned off. You can set your console to turn off automatically after 1 or 6 hours of inactivity, or simply turn it off when you're not using it.

    To change these settings:

    1. Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings > All settings.
    3. Select Power mode & startup. Make sure Power mode is set to
      Instant-on
      , and:
      • For automatic updates, select Keep my console, games & apps up to date.
      • To turn off your console when idle, select an option under Turn off after.

Fortnite updates and how to control when they happen ?

Not looking to be able to CONTROL the update - looking to PERMIT the update (autoupdate) whether my son is using the console or not

It sounds as if INSTANT ON will allow this to happen at a power cost
