Xbox One S Randomly Disconnects From Controller

As the title suggests, my Xbox keeps disconnecting from my controller. I've tried every avenue to fix this that I could find. Updated and reset my Xbox, updated my controllers, tried different batteries, tried different controllers that worked on other xboxes, hard reset, factory reset, plugged them in, tried them on my laptop, and ensured there wasn't anything interfering with the signal, among things. My Xbox doesn't blink when they disconnect, but the controllers themselves will dim, blink for a couple of seconds, and then resume working. This happens at completely random intervals, sometimes it can go without disconnecting for half an hour, but other times it does it non-stop. It's definitely not my controllers, its my Xbox, but how do I even fix this problem?

So you already tried using other controllers that worked on other consoles and the issue persisted, right? In this case, if you already factory reset your console keeping games and apps (Settings > System > Console info > Reset this xbox > Reset and keep my games and apps), the only other option would be to factory reset it and remove everything. All your games and apps will be removed. Any progress not saved to the cloud will be lost.

If the issue still persists after that and you are not on the Xbox Insider program, I would say your console needs to be repaired. Sorry about this.

Hi there Larry welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. Everytime my Xbox starts acting up with my controller I do the following steps:

Open the Xbox Guide by pressing the guide button on the controller and select

Settings.

Select Network Settings.

Select Advanced Settings.

Under Change Settings select Alternate MAC Address.

Select Clear.

Allow the console to restart when prompted.

Then:

1. Turn off your Xbox using the power button on the console.

2. Once your Xbox has completely powered down, unplug the power cord from the back of the console. Don't simply unplug the cord from the wall's electrical socket — it must be disconnected from your Xbox.

3. Wait for 5 minutes, and then reconnect the power cord to both the Xbox console and the electrical socket.

4. Let another minute pass. If you're using an original Xbox One (as opposed to an Xbox One S or One X), watch for a small white light to appear on the Xbox One's power brick (the rectangular part of the power cord). Once the white light turns orange, you can turn your Xbox One back on. If you're using an Xbox One S or One X, just wait out the minute and turn it on afterwards.

Hello Atsfsteam,

Thanks for posting here on the Xbox forums. Do you have your console plugged into a surge protector, or directly into the wall? I have see cases of these types of issues coming from the console not receiving enough power. This usually happens because of
the outlet it is plugged into.
