Xbox One S power cord incredibly loose

so I just got an Xbox one S, and the power cord is so insanely loose that it’s unusable. The cable just lightly sits in the console, so that it just falls out by itself with almost no interference meaning I can’t really use the console.

And while it is "plugged" in, there are faint electrical sounds (which suggests it’s not connected properly at all.) I’m assuming this is abnormal and a sign of a faulty product right? Anything I can do or am I gonna have to return the whole thing?

Loose/ Wobbly Power Cord

Mine is the same way, if it gets bumped at all, it disconnects the cord. This is obviously a design flaw. The hole where the cord plugs into the brick is larger than the cord, therefore it lets it wobble. Microsoft will not do anything but sell me another
power supply. Makes me really wish I had went with the PS4...have only had it a week and may return it and go with the PS4.

What you're describing certainly isn't normal and if you're hearing electrical sounds we suggest unplugging the console and reaching out to the retailer for an exchange. Really sorry to hear you're dealing with that!

I would immediately unplug the cable. If you're seeing sparks, then there is something wrong and removing the power cord is the safest option to avoid a fire hazard.

Please look at
devicesupport.microsoft.com As it is a new device it should be covered under warranty and have options for power cord or device replacement depending on where the issue is.

I haven't seen any sparks, however I've heard noises that sound like sparks - I'm not sure if it's a normal noise and I'm being dumb or if there's something wrong with the console itself as I've never owned an Xbox (or a console) before.

Hi there,

be sure to check that the input is free from anything and nothing is blocking the option to properly hold the power cable.

Also double check that the cable isn't damaged, it's a fairly generic cable so you could try switching it for a different one, as long as the specifications are the same.
