Xbox One S Passthrough W/Directv 4K STB

I've done some reading on this issue and how the new One S does NOT passthrough HDMI 2.0 and therefore is not compatible with DirecTV 4K set top boxes. Mind numbing this wasn't included since it's primary new function is to my a 4K media system.

I currently have a Day One XB1 that I do not run my STB through as much as I'd like to because I can't access DTVs 4K programing by going through the XB1. I was going to buy a new One S today until I read that it STILL does not accept 4K STBs through confirmation
of early One S adopters on this forum and others.

I reached out to XB1 support yesterday about this very issue and while the support specialist did not sound confident at all in his response, he made it sound like this issue was software related and could be fixed through a future update/patch.

Does anybody know if that is accurate or is this a hardware issue that simply won't be fixed until maybe when Scorpio comes out? Pretty bummed about this development as it'll keep me from picking one of these new consoles up.

If I can get a clear answer as to if it is something that could be patched/fixed, I'll still get one but if its hardware related, I will just wait.

DirecTv 4k signal not passing through Xbox One S.

I can confirm that a 4k signal won't passthrough my Xbox One S either. I've tried my DirecTV C61k (4k capable), TiVo Bolt and Amazon 4k FireTV. The One S won't pass through 4k from any of them. This sucks and is the MAIN reason I went ahead and got an
Xbox One S. If I wanted to stick with separate inputs for my DirecTV and Xbox One I would have just stuck with my original Xbox One. Not happy...

It appears that the One S does not support 4k signal in from DirecTv 4k boxes. I initially thought it might be my receiver, which I am sure it isn't, but just to make sure, I hooked the Xbox directly to my TV and tried to watch 4k content, but it isn't
working. Does the One S not support 4k passthrough from Directv boxes? Is it something that can be fixed with an update? Thanks for any help in advance.

You're correct. The Xbox One S does not have 4k HDMI Pass-through, and as such you will not be able to pass-through the 4k DirecTV stream. I do not know if this is software or hardware limited. Because this is a feature that is not in the One S, I would
suggest going to this site
and submitting your feedback either by up-voting an article already on this, or submitting your own idea.
