    Xbox One S overheating

    Hello All!

I own an xbox one s that is out of warranty and i am hoping the community might be able to help me diagnose my current issue. so my xbox began overheating (according to when i power it back on) when we had a really bad storm. the xbox was heating, but it
was on the Xbox One S Vertical Stand. i took my own xbox (seeming it was out of warranty) apart to clean the fans and see if that was the issue. still overheats. i took it apart again and this time powered it on outside of the original casing to see if the
fan was running - yep, the fan was running and was working at optimal speed. but not the speed it needs to be to prevent overheating, like how the Xbox One (with touch buttons) does. i am an Xbox Alpha Skip Ahead user and i had just received an update, so
i dont know why it continues to shut down. i was lucky my xbox did not shut down in the update process. if anybody can help me out and give me some options, it would be much appreciated. i was mainly considering buying a water block for all of the chips that
needs cooling and just water cooling my xbox one s myself, but that would take me a month to do (i was inspired to do so after seeing it successfully being done on YouTube), so i just need a solution that will help me with my Xbox One S. please help!!

    Thanks!

    Avery Shaposka

EDIT: i took my xbox one apart again and found out that my fan will run for 3 minutes, then it dies entirely. i dont know if it is an issue with the built in fan controller that microsoft has to control the speed of the fan or if my fan died entirely. i
guess 2 of my options are liquid cooling the xbox or purchasing an Aftermarket fan such as the be quiet! silentwings 3 and getting a PWM adapter that will hook into my xbox one and zip-tying it to the heat sink and hope that it works. because my fan is no
longer running at all. there are no methods of cooling it right now. not even a separate fan or anything. i have no parts that will fit into the PWM or any external fan that will cool my xbox one at all. knowing this, what would the community recommend?

    :)

    One S overheating issues?

    Hi

I have not heard of any overheating issues with the Xbox One S.

As for the question reference playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One console does also include playing the games online.

    xbox one S overheated

The Xbox One consoles have a temperature sensor built in, and if the console detects it's becoming too hot, it will show a specific error message on the screen telling you so.

If the console turns off without that warning, and you touch the case of the console (especially the venting area on the top), it is very normal for the console to "feel" hot. The console will heat up to around 60°C without issues as long as the cooling
system works, and therefore the air coming out of the console will feel "hot". But this is normal operation.

If the console detects a heat problem, it will throttle the processor to let it cool down automatically, and display a warning on your TV screen.

Should you still think that the console is defective after you did the troubleshooting steps from M3tal Daz3 and JhonSnow777 you need to sign up your console for repair at

If the console overheats and shuts down, this is an indication that your console is getting too hot, and you may need to adjust its placement or remove items that may be blocking vents.

Follow these tips to make sure your console can ventilate properly:

    • Do not block ventilation openings on the console. Even something that seems insignificant, like a disc case, may limit ventilation. Make sure the power supply, which has a built-in fan, also has adequate ventilation. See

About the Xbox One power supply
      .
Note This is not applicable to the Xbox One S or Xbox One X, which have an internal power supply.
    • Do not place the console or power supply on a bed, sofa, or other soft surface that may block ventilation.
    • Do not place the console or power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, rack, or stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
    • Do not place the console or power supply near any heat source, such as a radiator, heat register, stove, or amplifier. Very hot heat sources can damage the console.
    • Avoid excessively dusty environments, which can reduce thermal performance.
If your console consistently shuts down automatically due to ventilation problems, even after the console is free from clutter and no vents are obstructed, it will need service.

    You can
    request a repair
from Device Support. Console registration is required to service your console.

    Xbox One S overheating

Hello, this issue could be result from different causes, console overheating, problems with the power supply or connection problems, in the following link you will be guide trough a process to find out wich one could be the cause of this issue in your
    console.

Let us know if these sugestions fix your issue, or if you need more assistance?
this unfortunately does not help my issue, as i think it might be something going on with my fan or the build that messed with my PWM port for my fan. my fan no longer spins as much. i got it to run the fan for 2-3 minutes and then the fan quits. i know
the fan is good if it does spin. i am hoping that it isnt the fan as i am currently looking at aftermarket fans (i might consider on the be quiet! silentwings 3 PWM fan to install into my xbox one s as a replacement) to see if that fixes anything, and i am
thinking of getting an aftermarket stand with fans as well that way i dont wind up with any issues. im just hoping someone can at least help figure out what is going on entirely and if the Insider Alpha has damaged my fan controller that the xbox throttles,
or if the fan has officially failed after 3 or 4 years of owning it
